Dana McCants: Hi! I am Dana McCants, and today I am going to show you an extremely effective skin rejuvenation process called Microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion has been helping people prevent and treat skin issues for over 25 years. It is especially good for maintaining a beautiful complexion if you already have one. And it also helps to reduce fine lines, mild acne scaring, and even skin tone and large pores.
By gently removing the upper layers of the epidermis, Microdermabrasion increases the cellular turnover rate. Thereby refining the surface skin and stimulating collagen and elastin production underneath.
A single session will bring about brighter skin tone and finer pores, and several treatments can fade more serious issues like sun damage, fine lines, scaring, and hyperpigmentation. So today to help demonstrate how easy and effective Microdermx micro dermabrasion is, we have Avy here who is eager to try it for the first time. Hi Avy!
Avy: Hi Dana!
Dana McCants: Thanks for coming and trying out our product today.
Avy: Thank you.
Dana McCants: Why don't you tell us what you are looking to address with Microdermabrasion?
Avy: Well, I was hoping to reduce some fine lines, and just generally improve the tone and texture of my skin.
Dana McCants: Good, because that's precisely what Microdermx Micro dermabrasion is really good for. So let's get started. One of the first things you want to do of course is clean your skin, which Avy has already done. One thing you want to be sure to do is leave a little bit of water, leave it a little damp. You don't want to dry it completely with the towel after you have done it, and since she is dry now we want to go ahead and add a little bit of water.
Okay, that's probably perfect. And you just want to put a little bit. Let's do the forehead first. Just put a little bit in the forehead, and just start working that in there. Perfect! Yeah, so that should take care of pretty much your whole forehead.
So go ahead and spread that onto like thin, consistency. That's just about right. You want to show them that, so you want to see a thin, white film, not too thick and not too where you can't really see the whiteness of it. So that's really perfect.
So you are going to want to move this in circles, no need to press, you're just going to move it around in circles, one direction and then reverse it and do the other. Perfect! Now, while you are getting going on that, I wanted to address really quickly some of the confusions surrounding Microdermabrasion. There is a lot and rightfully so.
The problem is that the FDA never regulated the term Microdermabrasion, which means anything in a jar, can be sold and be called Microdermabrasion legally, even if it doesn't perform the process. So many people go out and they purchase an at home Microdermabrasion system. They bring it home, they are excited, they try it, and it doesn't work. And so then they assume that all at home Microdermabrasion treatments don't work either. But, that's not the case.
If you have the proper crystal, you will get the treatment that's genuine and in fact there have been quite a few case studies that have proven that manual Microdermabrasion is as absolutely as effective as a machined version if you do use that proper crystal, which is where Microdermx comes in.
Microdermx uses only fused corundum crystal and that's a medical grade corundum crystal. Corundum crystal is second on the most scalp hardness, next to the diamond. It's what rubies and sapphires are made of.
It's really, really important that you get the hardness of that crystal as well as the micron size and the shape of this particular fused crystal to get the treatment that we are looking for. Speaking of progress, let's see how we are coming along with Avy, and how is it looking? How does it feel?
Avy: It feels good. It feels like it's getting a little dry.
Dana McCants: Okay. That's a really good point to bring that up, because -- just keep rubbing that in there though because a lot of people make the mistake of removing the product once it feels a little dry, and that's not what you want to do because actually that's when the Microdermabrasion process is just getting going. So it's really important to keep it going along at that point.
So just keep moving that both directions and get that going there, and it should do something very unique here in just a moment which none of the other at home Microdermabrasions do, which is it's going to actually ball up and fall away.
I want to go ahead and catch some of that dead skin to show everyone kind of what this is. So why don't you just - oh! There we go. So just make sure you get it, keep it out of the hairline, and eyebrow area, it's kind of hard to do that because it tends to want to move up and down, so you want to kind of keep it towards the center.
Oh yeah! Here it comes. Yeah, definitely you've gotten it now. Perfect! So you want to keep moving the crystal around until all of the little pieces have fallen off and you'll know when you are finished, when it feels perfectly smooth like there is nothing left to fall off anymore.
Great, perfect! This is exactly what you want. So you can see here, the mixture of the dead skin and the crystals that have clumped up and fallen off, and this is exactly what you want to see. This is what makes Microdermx unlike any other at home Microdermabrasion treatment, none of the other ones actually show you the results.
So now we are going to repeat that same process on all other sections of your skin. So what I do to expedite the process, I will use two hands, perhaps the temple area, then the cheeks, and the balls up, and then the nose and then the chin, and you want to do all the sections before you rinse. Okay? So let's go ahead and get started on that.
I use a good amount. I usually use my ring finger on the eye area, because it's such a delicate area. You don't want to push at all. It's kind of a good idea to kind of go against the grain of any wrinkle ankles so to speak, that will help to lessen them and you want to kind of keep it maybe just a one finger if you can and just kind of move it back and forth in circular motion just like that, yeah. And you can get right up to underneath the lashes actually. You just don't want to press it, it's a delicate area, but it will do the same thing with this skin balling up and falling away you'll see, perfect! Yeah. Just keep moving it around.
Now, you are going to go ahead and rinse. So you are going to want to use the tepid water and go ahead and get all the crystals off of the skin, some of them will get into the eyebrows and the hairline area. Sometimes it's a good time to take a shower right after the treatment, that way you can get them all out easily.
This is where you are really going to be able to feel what the Microdermabrasion treatment has done to the surface of your skin. How does it feel Avy?
Avy: I am incredibly soft, incredibly smooth.
Dana McCants: Right, great! So you are going to want to apply a very thin layer of the step two all over your face. That's good. Probably twice that amount on each side. It's a really good opportunity to feed your skin after Microdermabrasion treatment. After Microdermabrasion the skin is open. So it's a really good time to feed it, nutrient dense, creams, antioxidants, it just takes this skin rejuvenation process that much further. So how does the step two feel?
Avy: It feels very fresh and doey and a little warm.
Dana McCants: That's good. That means you've got a good treatment. It is normal for your face to be a little rosy. Almost everyone feels really doey after the treatment. The redness usually goes away from 5 to 20-25 minutes depending on your skin type.
So that concludes our video today. I hope you have enjoyed it, and that you have a better understanding of how Microdermabrasion works, and how an at home Microdermabrasion can help you have more beautiful and radiant skin.
