The first thing we are going to do is we are going to create a new project. When you work in other applications, like say, Microsoft Word, you work with a single document or a single file at a time. In Blend, we work with entire projects, which is a folder that contains all of the files necessary to create an application.
I have started Blend here and on the welcome screen, I have got three tabs. I am going to choose the Projects tab and create a new project. The New Project dialog comes up and initially, I can choose between creating a Standard Application or a Control Library. I want to work with the Standard Application right now and by default, it has given my project a name and a location in my documents folder.
At the bottom, it is also stating that I am going to use Visual C#. I have two options here, I can work with C# or I can work with Visual Basic. This is a decision that is based on which programming language that the developer set you are working with or more comfortable with. I am going to continue to use the default with Visual C#.
Now, my project has been created for me. I have the art board in the center and some information has been filled in for me in the panes on the sides.
