Welcome to the Sunday Night Shooters, edition of Common Man Cocktails. I am your host, Derrick Schommer, as always.
And today, we’re going to be creating the Mind Eraser Shooter. Lots of ers. So what we’re going to be doing is very simple, and that’s the way shooters should be. We’re going to do a little vodka, and we’re going to be using Valor Vodka by Brave Spirits donates $2.00. And then the woman in the armed forces, fire department, police department, everything that saves you and keeps you safe if you were in America, otherwise, I don’t think they want war with you, but you know how it is. And what we’re going to do is mix up three quarters of that with three quarters of Kahlua Especial, and we’re going to top it off with a club soda.
Thinking that that will all fit, we’re going to do two shots, his and her a pair, and so let us get the ball rolling. Oh, and there’s no shaking in this one. So we’re going to first pour the Kahlua, then we’re going to pour a vodka, then we’re going to top with club soda. So, it’s not layered but it’s kind of cool. It’s kind of like a—no. So, you know it, this is kind of like a—if you had cream, you’d get your, you’d get your—maybe it’s more like a Black Russian. So what I did is I chilled up these glasses a little bit because there’s no shaking with ice in this, so you kind of—people keep vodka in the freezer too. So that’s always cool. I don’t know if you can keep it cool, yes you can, 35% alcohol. If it’s above 22%, usually it’s not going to freeze, it’ll thicken.
So, let’s start anyway. We’re going to do three quarters of Kahlua, so let’s get our three quarters poured here. And you need the sound, three quarters. Cool. And then we’ll do our vodka. And the Kahlua is awesome, so you really can’t go wrong. It says vodka, typically it has no scent, especially since the Brave Sprits is a good vodka and not one that’s poor. That always helps. And I’m almost doing three quarters but judge the size of your glass so that you can figure out if that’s appropriate because some glasses sizes may vary. Whoa! That would have been the first, small explosions called soda pipe bomb. Wow! We need pours on club soda. There we go. So there is your Mind Eraser Shooter. Whoa!
I’ll drink the one that I can’t probably transport. So, it’s not layered probably because I didn’t care, but you can layer it. Looks like a beer, like a dark beer, maybe a Bass Ale. Whoa! That’s different. I’ve never shot club soda before. It like jumps in your mouth, but otherwise tastes like a soda flavored coffee. If you like, I like coffee. So if you like coffee and you like carbonation, you take a rhum. The vodka I think really in this drink is to get you drunk. I’m not really sure where—I mean, that’s usually what vodka is, it’s a neutral grain spirit, so you’re not going to get a lot of flavor profiles, not like you’re picking up a lot of new ones in an American-made vodkas that are there. They are usually like quadruple distilled. They distill them down to the raw potency. Other countries, if you’re listening from like Russia, maybe Lithuania, or Romania, like that, you might get a better—you’ll probably find better vodkas than I can. Brave Spirits, Tito’s, those are a couple of ones that I favor on this show, Double Cross is another good one. Definitely don’t taste the vodka, you’re tasting almost like it was a Sobe Coffee, I want to make one of those. Maybe like the Starbucks, the energy drink things, whatever they are.
So there you go. That is your Mind Eraser Shooter. Have a good time with it. Take them in moderation because these things might cause some internal damage. That’s it! The mind erasing, they erase your mind. So, think about that. You will not remember what you did the next day if you drink too many of these. That’s—can’t be argued.
