In a way, I don't wish to disrupt the poison ivy aid industry but I must share my poison ivy treatment. Apply apple cider vinegar onto affected area(it definitely stings) and without drying the skin quickly pat on baking soda, sort of forming a paste. Has worked great for me and my friends. It might be a good idea to saturate a towell or rag with the apple cider vinegar for ease of application.

The Doctor is right but the clinician - as a lay person find the info. on Poison Ivy somewhat inaccurate. For those who may end up with it on your fingers/hands (especially) - I recently had on my fingers & when I couldn't help scratching - it spread. I wasn't in contact with anything at that point...even stopped gardening because I don't like to use gloves & didn't want to irritate it. I found an excellent solution since hands are constantly getting washed - Calamine with Benzyl Alocohol - it drys it up very fast. I've had Calamine alone & it did not work nearly as well. Found this out by accident. The brand is Ivarest & was one of the least expensive...I would suggest this combination to anyone with poison ivy. Works fast to dry up the area.
