Shalom! The Jewish tradition believes that people who pray for other people help the people who are ill. In fact, there seems to be some medical evidence that that is correct. We have set prayers for people who are ill and I wanted to chant the Hebrew of a traditional prayer for people who are ill. It is something that anybody can do it, do not have to be a rabbi to do it. In fact, the Talmud says that when you visit someone who is sick, you take away 160th of their illness. Now, medically, that always leave some for the doctors, but definitely, there is a feeling that visiting the sick is a great mitzvah called bituat halim and even God did it y sending messengers and Abraham has circumcised himself as the Torah tells us. So the prayer in Hebrew is Mi Shiberakh Avoteinu: Avraham, Yitzhak, v'Yaakov, v'Imoteinu: Sarah, Rivka, Rachel v'Leah. May the One who blessed our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah. Hu yivarekh virapei et haholeh/haholah, May God heal Rufet Ropha. Ropha is a doctor. Et haholeh, haholah is a sick person and you name them. HaKadosh Barukh Hu, may the holy one blessed be he. yimalei rahamim alav, l'hahalimo, u-l'rap'oto, l'hahaziko, u-l'hay-oto. V'yishlah lo, lah bim-hera r'fuah shlemah. Send him quickly a full and speedy recovery. V'yishlah shemyam from the heavens. r'fu-at hanefesh u-r'fu-at, the healing of the soul. r'fu-at hagoof of the body, the call Yv’ arav d’ gdaz, all of his parts. 'tokh sh'ar holei Yisrael, and my lord the remnant of of us who are sick in Israel. And then if it is Shabbat, you say shabathi or yom tove, melizoke. hashta ba'agalah u-vizman kariv v'no-mar, Amen!. In some of that is Aramaic but that is the Hebrew, you find the text and should be able to figure it out. They guy that blessed our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah bless and heal so and so. May the holy one praised be God mercifully restore him the health and vigor. May God grant him health of body and health in sprit and mind along with all others who are strict and let us say amen!
