Shalom, want to talk about the universe and implications in Judaism especially from the story of creation. In August we had a 30th anniversary of the launching of the Voyagers space craft which had work his way and discovering a lot about our earth systems and then about the planets around us and it has been flying now for 30 years it is now unbelievable how far away it is left our system, it is three times farter away then Pluto and they believe that now it is about 15.5 billion kilometers almost 10 billion miles from earth 10 billion miles from earth and sent us information takes 14 hours for there information traveling speed of light to get here. Another 40, 000 years this voyager will leave our solar system. Now our solar system is just one of hundred billion suns in our galaxy and our galaxy is about hundred billion galaxies. If anybody thinks the world is just 7,000 years old I mean it is impossible to be that was ridiculous and that see if that impossible, in fact now scientist perhaps there many universes but mind bugling statistic of this voyager between lunch which records of material were scientist believe a last of billion years has been traveling now it is ten billion miles away and takes 14 hours the speed of light for information to get back to us and now we solar system for another 40,000 years until he gets the next nearer star it just amazing.
The story number two that I want to talk about this a reason story that said that we may actually on earth I know I worry all this time that 5 billion from now I kind getting but 5 billion years from now the earth, the sun of our earth will blow us up, will run out of gas so what going to happen us? The third story that I want to mention is called Encyclopedia of life, professor Wilson who was a professor Emeritus of biology in Harvard I like recently in the newspaper about this effort to identify for every living species on earth, they identified down one point 1.8 million, guess how many specie on earth they believe are still to be discovered about a hundred million but advances in bar code and DNA and genetics, they believe they will able to produce a life and he say in the ends of the article that we have incapable value for our understanding of the world and helping us to get all this species. Now think about al the context of Genesis, chapter 1 which simply say God created the heaven and the Earth, the Earth was tohuvahu unformed it void it means big empty universe full not are organization God made it. Think how beautiful it is God mad us Einstein believe God creator when he look up the universe the cosmological proof of God
Second of all we have this notion not only the vastness of the universe but the significance of our sun and our light and that goes back in the verse of the Genesis for God made light to rule the day, small light rule the night and then the chapter goes chapter 1 and describe all thing been created of this specie and that is specie last thing about professor Wilson article about this project encyclopedia of life so us we think about this magnificent portion what we really need to know so much to contain in the book of genesis, the story of creation of the Jewish people so many called do have creation story Jewish people have this particular creation story which is fired of course the Christian, Muslim view of the word of God creator, God who loves the universe saw it was good and not evil, earth a world that was survive if we do not mess it up and infinite variety of species and God making this beautiful world.
