Morningside Heights NY Real Estate Guide
This is Jason Sheftell of Morningside Heights. A hundred and fifty years ago, this neighborhood was home to Bloomingdale Insane Asylum. Today of course, it’s Columbia University territory with vibrant student life, very high security, and wonderful cultural institutions.
I love the Italian Renaissance Architecture. It once hold the middle class housing. Today of course, it’s all upper class housing. They’ve got one-bedrooms of $300,000.00, two-bedrooms for $550,000.00 to $700,000.00, and very large four-bedrooms for about $800,000.00 and up.
On the rental side if you’re lucky, you can score a studio for about $1400.00, a one-bedroom for $1800.00, and a two-bedroom about $2400.00 or $2500.00, very large four-bedroom apartments going for about $4000.00.
If you get a chance to buy here or rent here, do it because student housing is everywhere, so apartments very rarely come up for sale or for rent. Students are everywhere up here as are incredible cultural institutions. You’ve got some of the best churches in the city. Riverside Church is behind me. On the corner here is Saint John the Divine. Of course, right now, I’m standing in Riverside Park, the city’s prettiest parks. It’s got basketball, volleyball, tennis, a boat basin, incredible jogging paths and great biking. Dog lovers absolutely love this neighborhood. The small streets, dogs went wild and everyone enjoys the outdoor picnic season in the summertime.
