Hey guys, this is Eric Meek from finacutstudioschool.com and I am here to show you a neat little text trick from motion 3. First thing I will do, slide your text tool, click in your canvass and type some text. And now that we have our text, what do you want to do with it? Well, I am going to show you what we are going to do with it. We were going to go over to our text tab under layout, the first parameter, layout method, select path, then go on down in your parameters under path options, there will be a path shape, select circle. And boom! As you can see on the canvass, this makes our final cut studio school or whatever text it is into a circle or semi circle. Now, you can go over here and adjust your radius and your sides here in the hood and make them touch. So, let us go ahead and adjust things out and make our letters touch, now that looks pretty good right there.
Now, what we are going to do. Okay I will show you, did you see this three little circles right here, one, two, three. Each has a corresponding colored circle. This is the 3D transform tools. What we are going to do is, I want you to grab the red one and twirl it towards almost flat like that right there. And then after you do this, you are going to go back on to your text layout tab and you are going to check this box as face camera. This will stand your text up like this, right here to face the camera. Go back here and grab your red 3D transform tool again, so you can adjust it where you can see it, make it in 3D a little bit like that, right there. Now, we have our final cut studio school or whatever text maybe there in the circle and if you go over and adjust your path off set, as you can see it will make spin. So, what we are going to do is we want to adjust our path off set, so right click on the path off set parameter and select right. And when you this, it will bring up your right perimeter that you can adjust. And then, I want you to get into the right then make it, I do not know … negative 8 or so. And then when you do this, and you play it back, as you can see our text is rotating around in the circle.
Now this is a great trick guys. It is simple, it is easy, it is universal, and it can be applied to many things. You can adjust the angle of this text. there is so much stuff that I have not showed you that you can do it if you can just open your mind. I just wanted to give you the basics of how you do it, it is good to know, you can out your logo on the middle or however you see fit. It is just a good little trick to know. I learned one of the first text tricks I learned in motion was this and I used it to this day still.
