Hi guys this is the Emeek77 and I got an email from a guy who wants me to demonstrate what is optical flow timing and retiming is. It is behavior motion dot for part three and it comes from shake and this is one reason why I like it better than AE, it is really easy how it works and it has really, really great quality. So if a play this clip back you will see what is normal, it is just a car exploding. Now over here on the timing pane under properties, there is a way to remap your timing and if you click the box there is a variable speed and constant speed but if you go on down there is one called frame blending and right now it is set to none. I can set it to blending, motion dark blending or optical flow.
Now you can kind to consider these steps in the ladder and get from better to best. So let us just say we will go on to motion blur blending and I play it back as you notice it goes on slow motion but it is good and it looks good and it is better than final cut but it still just did not got a certain to it. So when you go down to optical flow what happens is that this little spinner ball will come up right here and I already got the scene analyze but a little analyze button will come up right here and you click it and it will give you your process and you can keep working while it is analyzing and sometimes it takes a long time so after you analyze your clip for optical flow right here which you said optical flow.
And will begin analyzing little box with a progress bar will come up and start analyzing and it will tell you how many scenes you got and there will be a little progress indicator right here in at the bottom and you can close your progress bar and if you want to open it back up just click the progress indicator down here right by the report button and let it do its thing in the background and when it gets done, we play this back the same clip that has been analyzed by optical flow and I will play it and it moves nice and slow and nice it is.
If you ask me that is -- look at that. That is really extraordinary. It really is and what is neat about this is that I can click this little reverse button and once you analyze it you only have to analyze it once no matter what you do to it and I can click play and I can play it back in reverse. Check it out. The flames will suck right back in and with optical flow retiming this makes it look really good. So click it here so you see what I am talking about and then we play it. You can see that it is going to come in reversing. It is going to come back right in.
It is that simple it is just a matter of setting back and letting it be analyze and once it is analyzed you can slow it. I can slow it back even more. It is at 31% speed now but I can slow it down even more if I would like and it will still be smooth as it can be but I do not like to go below thirty percent but as you can see, really marvelous quality as far as slow motion goes. I mean if you have somebody with hair blowing in the wind you can actually see each individual little hair flowing it is a really great quality option that is added to motion three.
So that is basically it you wanted the demo of it and there you go. I hope that this has taught you what it is all about and what it is for and if not maybe I can make a tutorial actually showing you a situation we can use again. I hope you guys have learned something and see you next time.
