Hey guys, this is E. Meek 77 from finalcutstudioschool.com and I got a message for Skype, he wanted to know how I did my Sepia video, where I have a video of me with a sepia and I have some squares cut out that was regular color and in the same video I had my wall video, it was a skew with that same effect. So, I am going to show you how to do that, a lot of video loaded in, the first thing I am going to do is select it in my layers stab and hit command D, to duplicate it. This will give us two layers, so now select to top layer with the same movie, add filter, color correction, sepia. This will turn it sepia. So now, we want to add a mask, so I want to go up here on my mask tool, it can be square or a rectangle, I want to use a rectangle and I want to draw a square and this will give us our mask, as you can see. It masks out, the video underneath the sepia color video clip and we can see it now.
And, because we made a duplicate of that clip, it looks like it is the same clip but its not, the clip you are seeing in regular color is the clip on the bottom and clip you are seeing in sepia is the clip on the top. This is not one clip, this is two clip layered on top of one another, that is the trick. You do not use one image, you have to use a duplicate, so when you make a mask, the layer underneath shows through it. So, now that we have this as you can see you can take this and move it around wherever you want but you hood, if available, click your hood in the command bar on top. Click the invert mask button and this will invert your mask and that is how you got that as you can see. We can move it around, put it whatever we want to. But in mine, I have a border and we can add a border to it so want to create a shape, which is right here.
And we are going to create our own shape, so we use the best yard tool. Click it and then we click on the four corners of this mask and we use this really fast and this will give us a wide shape. Bring up your hood and in your hood, check outline and uncheck fill. Now, this will not look do not look like match but you need to bring your wit slider up, when you do that, you will see, it gives at a border and of course you can go in here to the colors watching in color them anything you want, like that. That is how you do that, as a matter of fact you can make as many shapes as you want, circles, square or custom shapes even. You can even draw a custom shape with the bezier tool and have a mask, any custom shape you want. So, we will get to that later on, instead of using this, you use this to make custom shapes.
So now, let us go on to a little bit more difficult one and the one that has a skewed angle. So, let me erase everything. Go back to the start, two clips or two duplicate clips, select your top clip, go to add filter, tiling respective tile. This will make a wallow video with four cross hairs, here is one cross hair. So, you want to take hold your cross hair and adjust them until you get the look you are looking for. And, as you can see the wallow video will go way back in. And now, we got that we want to click on our clip again our top clip, go to add filter, color correction sepia, this will turn it sepia. So now, we want to add our mask, but instead of using the rectangle tool, square tool, we want to make our own. Like I just talked about, so we were going to click on our bezier tool and we were going to click around the video box that we want to show as regular color. So now, we got our border, now we want to make sure we make it see through to make it the regular color.
So, I am going to go on here and uncheck my border and turn it off, so I will not get in my way of anything. I am going to click my sepia movie again and this time I am going to go over here and click my bezier mask tool. And then, I am going to click around the shape, this is spam I want and I am going to invert mask, just like last time. And boom! There we go, we have our video inside of our skewed wall and if I turn back on our border, there we have our border. You set the mask with the video and set it to where you want it, to where you can see yourself or how ever you want to work it. And that is how you do that, I mean that is pretty much it. I hope you learn something; it is not hard to do. If you have any questions, get a hold of me at finalcutstudioschool.com or right at my youtube channel.
I also have a final cut studio school youtube channel if you want to check it out. It is all must and no fuss; it is just the final cut studio school channel on youtube. It is just my tutorials.
