Hey guys, this is Eric Meek from finalcutstudioschool.com or my youtube channel, final cut studio school and I am here to show you how to remove blemishes in motion, you can do it in color, but if you have color, you have motion, so use motion. So, I will bring in the clip of my self, I have a blemish on my cheek, a birth mark. You can see right here. We are going to remove it, so we need to go up here, select our circle and then we want to draw a circle over and around our blemish, accept.
Here it is probably white, not blue. Now, that you have a circle over the top of the blemish, you could have more than one, go over to your inspector, select the shapes tab and under the style, subcategory, select your color swatch and select the magnifying glass and this is how you take a sample color. So, take the sample color whatever you want, your little dot to be, I want it to be the color of my skin, so I am going to take the sample color of my skin close to the blemish.
As you can see this turns my little circle into my flesh color, but if you look, you can still see that there is kind of a hard edge. It is hard to see but it is there, so what we are going to do is select your circle, add filter, blur, be focus. And this will blur out the edges of your circle, so now, as you can see, it looks pretty good, our blemish is pretty convincing.
Now, what do we want to do, we want track it to our blemish, so select your circle on the layers tab, go up to add behavior, motion tracking or match move. Add behavior, motion tracking, match move. In this will through up a little yellow cross hair in the canvass and what you want to do is click on that cross hair and match it over the top of whatever you want your blemish to be.
You want to track on that blemish and you put a little cross hair over that blemish, like this. And, you can also go over here and track rotation if you have your subject that you are talking is rotating around instead of just being basically stationary. So, now that we have our little cross hair set, I am going to go up here and hit analyze and it is going to start analyzing my clip.
I am going to go pretty fast. As you can see, we are getting a pretty good motion track here, and there. Now, I will be selecting everything, play it back, you can see that the blemish is gone. It is track on my face even though the camera is shaking, no problem. So, that is how you easily and quickly remove blemishes from a subject.
I do hope you have learned something and I will be going to go over steady cam, next as a short little tip that somebody has asked me about. But, I want you to keep an eye out for my final cut pro series coming. I want to go the completely from beginning to end, starting with user preferences. So, it is going to be several parts so just keep an eye for those and if you have any question, you know how to get a hold of me and we will see you next time.
