Hey everybody, this is Eric from www.finalcutvideoschool.com and I am going to show you how to use multiple masks on the same piece of media. So, as you can see here, the piece of media that I am going to use, there is a window, and we are going to put something behind this window, so let me scale up more windows here to fit in this. Now, we have several options for masks. We have the Bezier and B-Spline and we have this irregular rectangle mask tool and it can go into square, circles, and freeform; and I am going to give into freeform in our next tutorial.
And, let us pick a square; I want to draw a mask around the inside of our window. And so, and then I want to hit the invert mask button in our hood. Boom! And, this will invert our mask, so now we have our blank picture here, so I am going to turn this mask off by clicking this on checkbox, select the picture again. Now, I am going to use the same mask again on the same picture, I am going to use multiple masks.
So, I want to mask out this middle section here, look so. And, now we have the middle section masked out now, I am going to slip the picture again, slip direct rectangle mask tool and I am going to do it the third time right to the center here to get the middle bar. Look so, now we have our picture masked out and it is that easy. Now, all we got to do is go in here and make another group, bring it down to the bottom, now I can go find some media and put in there.
That is the groups below it, it will show up like it is in the window. So, let me find some media here to put in there for you, that looked pretty good, this might be okay, I will drop it in group two, grab my square, size it down, then we will have it there when I hit play. You can see, it looks like the movie is playing outside our window. I got another one here set up for you but you can use other several other different types of movies. Let me turn this one off so we can use this one, slow it down.
Fit inside our window. Okay, I am going to play it you can see, this also looks like it is inside of our window. The possibilities are endless; you can use just about anything you want to use. If you want to you can like, check out this earth movie. You can put it in there. It kind of looks like the earth is flying by the window, as you can see. So that is how you use both multiple masks on the same picture, guys. Not a problem at all.
I hope you have learned something, any question you can get a hold of me, if not we will see you next time.
