Hi, I am Patrick Joost with the bare-naked Cannondale team giving you a couple quick tips that make a big difference when you are out on a race.
First thing is going to be your tire pressure. We want to make sure it is in constant balance between too low and too high. With the right pressure you will get a lot of traction, the bike will roll fast and you will also be a little more comfortable and it will just roll beautifully, too high, sometimes, you will lose traction and skid through the turns and slide out but it will roll a little faster.
Too low, you are always battling the issue of pinch flatting, hitting a rock too hard and flatting your race run, something that you never want to do so always be willing to check your tire pressure and make sure you are at the optimum pressure where you are, rock you a little harder or softer, make sure you ride well.
Always a good thing is to go through bolt check and make sure everything is tight. You do not want something falling off in the middle of the race and just usually go through a run through. Check your cables and housing, make sure they are running smooth. Make sure your chains do not have any bad links that you almost broke a chain the last race, make sure it works so go through it.
Set your suspension up the way you like it. That way you have also got more control. Bike handles better and you can ride as fast as possible and hopefully win that race so a few tips to always check through whenever you are going through for a race.
