I am Ron Sawicki I am Pua’s husband, I am also a professional bike mechanic. Today I like to show you how to keep your bike clean and working properly. First thing to do is just to rinse it of, do not be afraid, a good mono spray, you do not need to use the high pressure washer setting. I m using just a flat rinse, you can get in there, most bikes are sealed bearings so you just want to get in, loosen up the dirt and get off the excess so that when you scrub it you do not scratch the bike.
Second thing you want to do is degrease the bike, I got some sander petrol’s degreaser right here that I am going to spray. I want to spray it al over the chain and the rear cad and just saturate it so it sooths in. I am going to spray it over the front chain rings, even little on the drill, get reed of any stuff their. On the rear poly wheels and let that set in and get some brushes.
I am going to brush out the rear cad with a cad brush, this is just it is going to loosen it up and work in and you can spin in both directions, this is just going to allow the brush to get in deeper and just blend it over to the chain also. You might move the chain down so that you can get different spots, also move up to the front chain rings and do the same thing, run the brush over the chain rings, over the chain, shift gears so that you can get in to each spot, just get that grime out of there and the more you do this, those grime is going to be there and it will be easier it will be after that rinse all of it all.
It already starts to look like new, I am going to rinse down my bike again. get it ready so that I can sell for that. I am going to use this two different brushes, ne is a over all bike brush this one here, the other one is to get in to all the nooks and crannies. I am going to use a bike wash, I recommend the petrol’s because it is biodegradable and it gets the bike looking really nice and then you are going to scrub all over, cables and just seek in every nook cram that you can get.
To get into the harder to reach spots, I now have my other brush which I am going to scrub down and I am going to stick that in to the hard to reach areas and if you do this for at least once a month you are going to keep your bike really clean although if you do it twice a month your bike is going to love you and it is going to operate a lot nice when she get all a little wax something’s out of there, when you are over here by the breaks, try not to get any clears or anything inside where the break pads are. Once you get some other deposits on the break pads. That is when you re going to get squealing and the noises you cannot stand while you are riding. You do not need to clean the rotors off; they should clean them selves by breaking.
Finally rinse clean, if it is bright and sunny where you are cleaning the bike, you might want to move it to shade to let it dry a little slower, let it dry a little bit and then run a towel over it. After I have rinse out my bike and I have let it dry a little bit. I am going over and hands dry the rest of the way of the chain. If you have an air compressor, it is nice to just take the air compressor and blow the excess water out of the chain so that you do not have any build up. Once you are sure your chain is dry then go ahead and re lubricate it, saturate it and work in, lubricant in and wipe off the excess.
Every sell off and you want to do an intensive cleaning, that is going to take using a chain cleaner and taking part to part but as long as you are doing what I have just showed you, you would not have to go that far except for maybe once every three or four months. That is it that is the best way to keep your bike operating nicely.
This bike tip is brought to you by else worth bikes, like no other bike on earth.
