Hey everyone, welcome to a special BFX we’re changing it up in a couple of weeks. Because right now, I’m in Colorado right in the middle of production of my very first feature film Father Son Run. And I thought while I’m taking this break from BFX what better way to keep the Indy Mogul community involve than to you know share with you some tips and tricks that I am using to help me get through this film.
And today I want to go into how I plan Father Son Run and for that I wanted to show you this, it’s a very simple kind of stupid looking chart and this I basically we’ve got to help me stay organize as I plan my movie. And you can see at the very top of the list right there is story and that is always the most important to any film, you have to start with that if you have a good story don’t go any further. Someone who wants told me that you should be able to describe the story of your film in one or two sentences and the interesting to an average show. Here is the dramatization of how that interaction should go.
And makes you think doesn’t it, we are going to take a quick break but when we get back I’m going to explain the rest of my chart.
And we’re back so, now we can return to my poorly drawn chart. Okay, you’ve got a good story but now you need some people to help you tally it like a cast and crew. Can you shot it yourself or you need someone else to shot it, you have friends that are actors how many characters does your story need. These are the all things you have to figure out before going on to the next step. Next you have to look at timing, how time you need to shot this puppy, a week, three days, a month all see you have to look at the availability of your casts and crew or maybe they have something else to do, another gig or a job.
Okay, you’ve got your story, your people and your time, all figured it out. Now, it’s time to look at the gear. I like to make two lists, one my dream gear lists. This is all the stuffs that I really want to tell my story with but I don’t have or probably can’t afford. Second is your bottom very lists, this is the very essentials that you need to successfully tell your story and maybe stuff you already have playing around or you can borrow from a friend. Make those two lists and move to the next step.
And last but not least, money. You look at your gear, your time, and your people and now is to have a good idea of how much money it will take to tell your story, pretty cool right? All right, that’s wraps up our first Father Son Run especial next week will be doing one more in teaching you the pointer points of mounting a camera to a motorcycle. And the week after that will be back with the regular BFX. If you want to get more involve with Father Son Run, go check out the website fatehrsonrun.com and we will see you next week, goodbye.
