Hi, we are here to talk about moving the pets.
I remember, every time we had to go anywhere, it was like, “Make sure the cat is in the room, keep the door close,” because animals always know when you are getting ready to go somewhere and they get nervous. They do not feel comfortable knowing that everybody is moving around and people are leaving. They are afraid to be left behind, they do not know where, if they are going to be taken, they do not know where they are going to end up—it is stressful for animals.
You can of course mildly sedate them with catnip if they are cats. Some animals do well with delirium which is an herb, you can get that as a tea form and put it in their water, or you can sort of dust their food with it, but we never had to do that with our animals. We had dogs and cats, and you do have cat carrier so, it is a good idea too.
If you have a cat and you do not know how they are going to react, the cat carrier can be a really good idea and save you a lot of trouble.
But this is the most important thing of all—you want to make sure that everybody is ready to go in the car, every one sitting in the vehicle that you are going to be traveling in, then you get the animal and you bring the animal into the car and then you go, because bringing an animal into a car or a vehicle with the doors are opening and closing and everyone is getting stuff that they forgot this and that—that is a good way to loose an animal. And when an animal is scared and stressed out—that is when they go hide.
So hopefully you will have a good trip if you know that the cat or the dog is more comfortable when you all are comfortable and you know that the cat is safe or the dog.
