Mr. Mobile
Jay Goldman: Hi I am Jay Goldman and you are watching Mr. Mobile. Today look at this the Blue Ant Q1 Blue Tooth Head Set. Now it looks a lot like most Bluetooth headsets, in fact if you remember a little while ago we look at the Jawbone and it looks quite a lot like the Jawbone, it's got a very slim design, but the cool thing about this headset and I think probably for me what it really makes it stand out in the marketplace is that the entire thing is voice driven.
So the first time if you take it out of it's box which kind of looks like the Jawbone box I have to say, when you remove the top portion here, you'll actually see that it says, to get started put the Q1 on ear, hold down blue ant button, turn it on and we'll follow the instructions. It actually walks you through the entire pairing process with voice prompts right on it so all you do is pop it on your ear like this, you hold down a button and it explains exactly how to go about pairing it with your phone and it walks you through the process, worked perfectly on the iPhone and Palm 3 that we tried it with.
Imagine it will work with every other Bluetooth phones that's out there and one of the interesting things about this is it didn't actually ask for a pin, most Bluetooth pairing ask for a pin, but assume because you have put it on your ear and you have actually triggered the tutorial it doesn't ask you to enter a pin when you are doing it. The voice prompt button which is the blue ant button that's on the side of the headset right here actually triggers all of the voice prompt.
So you can activate voice dialing on your phone directly from here if it's supported, works perfectly on things like the iPhone that have voice command mode. It will also do things like dial the speed down numbers on your phone, so if you got a bit of an older phone that has one of those set ups where it's got voice speed down button for each of the buttons on your keypad, you can download directly from here by telling it to dial speed dial three of four or whatever. I found the fit on my ear really comfortable. Your mileage may vary on that obviously it depends size of your ears, but I found that it sat really nicely and putting into my ear was actually very simple. Some of the reviews that I have read from other people have said that they didn't find as comfortable, again your mileage may vary on that.
I will say that it solved one of my biggest problems with the Jawbone, which is that it's entire surface is a button and I found that got pressed a lot accidently and blue ant button here is sort of recess which is really nice. The audio quality is good. I had no problems hearing people they had no problem hearing me. I will say though that issuing the voice commands getting to do things like dial, redial, answer, that sort of stuff, don't work as well in a latter environments.
So if you are walking down the street, let's say there is a construction area, there might be a lot of wind noise, something along those lines, you might find it a little bit tricky to trigger the voice command, just try again it's pretty forgiving that kind of stuff. I would recommend this is a headset, if you are little more comfortable with technology and you sort of comfortable with the fact that you are going to be walking down the street instructing your phone to do things by talking to it.
If you are uncomfortable with that idea this probably isn't that headset for you because there is actually no other way to do things other than to use voice down button, but I would definitely recommend it for comfort, voice quality and the novelty of being to able to instruct your phone through. I am Jay Goldman, this is Mr. Mobile, thanks for watching and I will catch you next time on butterscotch.com.
