Welcome and thank you for joining me, I am Gerry Oginski, a New York Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury Trial Lawyer, practicing law here in the State of New York. Today's topic is the straight truth about finding an attorney while doing a search online. Chances are if you are watching this video, you probably find it through a search that you did on Google or one of the other search engines. Now, you are watching this to see what information I can provide to you about cases like yours.
And what I want you to do when you do watch attorney videos is to ask yourself a number of questions. What information is the attorney providing to you that's going to help you understand your particular case? Does the attorney explain the process about how lawsuits work and what an attorney looks for when you come into their office with your particular problem? If the attorney is not providing you this information, you have to ask to yourself, why not and what is that the attorney is really trying to tell me in their brief video clip.
I've had an opportunity to watch many attorney videos and what I found with most of them is that they don't provide any real useful information for potential clients. So, that the only information you'll walk away with from a lot of attorney videos are come to us because we are great, we have done this before, we know cases like this, you come to us, we will take care of you. Well, you know what, if that's the type of attorney that you feel comfortable with, then by all mean you should pick up the phone and call them and make an appointment.
However, ask yourself this question; what have you really learned about cases like yours from this attorney that's talking to you on the video. Are they explaining to you how cases like yours work? Are they explaining to how their law firm works and what they do to evaluate and investigate a potential case? What information are you learning about that lawyer and that law from the video? Now, keep in mind that an attorney cannot give you legal advice online or through a video and you should never rely on my video tips or anybody else's video tips for your particular case.
Why not, because your case may be so fact specific that you need to have an attorney go through with you the details to know what laws apply and whether or not you have a valid case. So, you should never ever totally rely on an attorney video or anything you see online to give you legal advice about your particular matter. Importantly, you should never rely on the time that you have to bring a lawsuit, because your case may be slightly different than what an attorney is taking to you about in a video clip. That's why, it's so crucial for you to just pick up the phone and speak to an attorney who gives you information about your type of case and somebody you think might be right for you.
So, when you are sitting in front of your computer and you are evaluating and looking at the different lawyer videos to see whether this lawyer is a right one for you, you need to be a critic and look very carefully to see what information they provide to you and that's it for today's video topic on the straight truth about law from videos and what you need to know.
