It really takes a few seconds to scan your yard for pools of standing water. Anything from saucers under planters to clogged rain gutters. These are mosquito magnets providing the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes to lay their eggs and those eggs can become adult mosquitoes in just seven days. So be sure to remove any standing water every time it rains.
If you have a feature with standing watering your garden or you have a rain barrel, you can safely keep mosquitoes from breeding or using something that looks like this. It's called the mosquito dunk and you find them in any local hardware or garden center. Just drop it at the rain barrel; it's safe for pets, humans and wild lives.
Mosquitoes do have one big predator and that's bat. So hang a bat house in your garden, and invite them into your yard where they can eat several hundred mosquitoes at night.
