Sarah Jagger: Hi! I am Sarah Jagger, and welcome to Mummy Makeover. The show where we beautify busy moms. We know that you have your hands full with tiny tear aways and don't have as much time to spend on your hair and makeup as you used to, that's where we come in. Gary France is a top stylists with hair dresser Toni&Guy. He'll get to work on your hair, and I am a professional makeup artist. I can make you beautiful. Meet Sian Cancea, in the morning she has just five minutes to spend on makeup. Her favorite makeup product is moisturizer, and the facial feature she most dislikes is her eyes. Sian, welcome to Mummy Makeover. Hi Sian! Sian Cancea: Hi Sarah! Sarah Jagger: Sian, tell me about you? Sian Cancea: Well, I am a 22-year-old mum. I have got a lovely boy, Charlie who is just turned a year. I am living in Stanmore. Recently graduate from Sussex University. I am freelancing for a parenting magazine at present. Sarah Jagger: Why you've come to us today? What kind of image change did you have in mind? Sian Cancea: Well, I am feeling really mumzy and frumpy. And I think my hair is in need for major boost. Sarah Jagger: Well, I don't think that you really are allowed to feel mumzy and frumpy at the age of 22. Sian Cancea: I know, I feel about three times of my age. It's awful. Sarah Jagger: Well, the first thing that I noticed when you came in is that you have this incredibly thick beautiful hair. Do you see any changes there? Do you feel brave enough to have any cutoff? Sian Cancea: Yeah, I am definitely up for a new hairstyle. Lots of the weight taking off. It's obviously a nightmare and just what my head to have a real boost. Sarah Jagger: So when you leave today, what kind of image do you have in mind? What do you think you are going to look like? Sian Cancea: Hopefully, a lot less mumzy and just more glamorous. Just I'd like to feel better that's the main thing for me. Sarah Jagger: First thing I would like to do is introduce you to Gary, so you can start talking about hair and then I'll do your makeup afterwards. Sian Cancea: Great! Sarah Jagger: Gary, I have mom for you. This is Sian. Gary France: Hi Sian! Nice to meet you. Sarah Jagger: Now Gary, Sian has this amazing massive thick hair that I think that you need some styling tips for everyday, quick and easy and no maintenance. I let you guys chat and see you later. Gary France: Thank you! Okay, Sian, so what do you feel is the main problem at the moment? And how you are managing your hair? Sian Cancea: It's just really, really thick, which just makes it so difficult. It's just out of control because of the thickness, and I just can't stand them. Gary France: Okay. Well, my solution for that would be really to go through and really establish some more and shorter layers, something a lot more internal, is looser, that will reduce that weight for you. Are you quite keen to keep it long? Would you like to keep some length in it? Sian Cancea: Yeah. I quite happy if you keep the length. Gary France: Yeah, okay. And I think that will work really well. If we can sort of work with the longer. That will take a lot of this weight away. Sian Cancea: Yeah. Gary France: That re-energize and that kind of -- and again be low maintenance. If you don't want to do anything to it, that's possible, if you feel you are going out and you want to work with the brush and style out a little bit more, that will also be great. Another thing I have noticed is you've got some really nice warm tones in here of color. Maybe we could just refresh those again, and kind of give it a nice healthy shiny warm glow to it. So we'll think about that bit later on. What we're going to do now is just get your hair washed and do a nice little scalp treatment for you. Just to get you really relaxed, and then we'll go through and start cutting. Sian Cancea: Great! Gary France: Alright! Sarah Jagger: So Sian gets a rare chance to put her feet up and settle down to a nice relaxing hair washing scalp message. A little bit of color is rinsed through to revitalize the color that's already in Sian's head. Gary France: We are going to start by, really front of the head, that's the natural fold of your hair. You get it fairly center. Sian Cancea: Yeah. Gary France: We'll work with that so that maybe you can wear it pretty much anyway and that works out for. I am going to cut into these layers a bit, just so to get a little bit more texture on the end, bit more movement through the end. Now, what you get is to just sit and do nothing. Sian Cancea: I am very happy. Gary France: Just trim it. Sarah Jagger: When you are the mom of an active one-year-old, this is very much a treat. Gary is cutting layers on Sian's head to remove some of the weights. A gentle blow dry, and the final hairstyle is revealed. Gary, I want you to talk me through this, because you have cut the length, but you have taken out body, is that right? Gary France: Well, what we did was -- the main problem was the thickness. So what we've done is reduced the weight out of the head. There is still a lot of natural volume and natural energy in it. The main thing is that she can manage herself really easily. Maybe with the use of little maintenance and time and things like that. All we did here is we laid it through and then we just rough dried it and para-dried it with the fingers, quite roughly so you just get a really simple natural look. Sarah Jagger: It's tousled. It's great! Gary France: It's really modern and fresh. If she wants to put it up, no problem, she still have all this hair to do that with, and just fold them up softer and her face and her own stuff worked it down, she just got it real nice and simple casual look. Sarah Jagger: So Gary, Sian didn't have a fringe before, is that right? Gary France: That's right. It's just very long and heavy around her face. Part of the sort of task was to really bring out her face a bit more. We worked on really softening around the face quite a bit. Sarah Jagger: Yeah, it's quite rough too. The color to me looks similar to before but maybe slightly less orange, is that right? Gary France: Yeah, we put a color rinse through almost like this sort of warmer tone and just picked all these previously sort of low lighted areas. And it's just fresh and hold thing up. So again, it's a quick kind of makeover idea, it works really, really well. You can do that in between the different color stages. Sarah Jagger: Well, it's great. Sian, what do you think? Sian Cancea: I think it's fabulous. Thanks very much! Gary France: Been my pleasure. Sarah Jagger: We have given you new hair, now I want you to get into the makeup chair, so we can start your makeup. Sian Cancea: Okay. Sarah Jagger: What I would like to do is I'd like to really bring out the color of your eyes, because that's quite green. I have noticed that, that color is come up a little bit more since the color in your hair has been refreshed. I would like to show that using plums, tops and plums. So it's not over the top, but your eyes will be the most intense part of your face. I find the best thing to do is to actually spray your skin with water first. Just close your eyes. Now what I would do is just help to open up the pores so they can absorb more moisturizer. I would like to use a foundation to even out the redness in your skin. I think I would like to use a compact, just because I know how little time you have, a compact is going to give you coverage very, very quickly. So the areas where you are most colored, obviously on the cheek, like the most of us and the chin. That's the area I want to concentrate on, I can just blend out the rest of the face. I am using a stick concealer, use your fingertip to blend because it has the lightest touch. And you'll see the only outer corners of the eye, there is this little area or darkness there that tends to bring the eye downwards. If you conceal that, it makes a different look. These are light reflecting shimmers, but they bounce off against the light, bring out any areas that you put them on like your cheekbones, for example. I am using the back of my hand to make sure that I really do only use a tiny little amount. It shouldn't be noticeable as a shimmer, but what it will do is give your skin this natural looking glow. Now, even though your skin is a little bit on the more dehydrated side, I would like to use some powder because powder will make sure that your concealer stays pushed. What I am trying to do is just make the arch of your eyebrow come out. Okay, so I am using this quite neutral taupe color all over the eyelid. Now, I would like to use this deep plump, plummy mauve color around the lashes and this is what's really going to make your eyes look super-green and really contrast with the colors in your hair too. So I'm using a small, quite stubby brush, and I could because it's an alternative to kind of eyeliner effect, gives that instant smokiness around the lashes and just make sure that the top of the lashes are well blended in. I am just going to use this tiny bit of very, very sheer lilac right on the inner corner of the eyes. Okay, this is a good trick for you, because it really lighten the eyes off. You can take quite a little of mascara, I tempted to actually put on a few coats to really make your lashes stand out. So a great trick is to apply blush and then go over with the large brush and some loose powder to blend it all over the cheek. So you don't end up with that strappy effect. Now I have got a lipstick here, which is quite good everyday lipstick for you because it's got quite a lot of depth of color in these pinky-plummy tones. It has a little bit of shimmer through it to make it more exciting. This is a really good trick to do after you've finished your makeup too, to use the water spray, don't move, let it work into your skin. It sets your makeup, that keeps that hydration that we have been talking about. Now Sian, when you came in this morning, this is what you looked like. And Sian this is what you look like now. Sian Cancea: Great, much better. Sarah Jagger: Are you happy? Sian Cancea: Yeah, thank you so much. Sarah Jagger: Pleasure.
