Male: The date was July 20, 1969 and the United States was looking to a man raised to the moon. To be first to set forth on another planetary body was the commander of the Apollo 11 flight. Neil Armstrong, a civilian, a pilot and an engineer. Inspired by his first flight to the age of six, Armstrong attended Purdue University studying Aeronautical Engineering. He wasn’t there long.
In 1949, the US Navy called him to an active duty as an Aviator. The hostility of the Korean conflict was where Armstrong displayed the high degree of coolness on the fire and it come the thoughtical mind able to function under extreme conditions.
Armstrong continued to fly until 1952. But the total of 78 missions when it chest for the medals had returned to the United States and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
With his love of flying and on the analytical mind, he was well qualified to become a civilian test pilot at the Dryden Flight Research Center, but the now famous Edwards Air Force Base. Test piloting was not known for its safe work environment however, and Armstrong like some many other test pilots had several very close course, but he still hungered to become an astronaut.
Armstrong applied for the second intake of Astronauts, but his application arrived late. Technically, he’d missed out, but several people at NASA who knew Armstrong well were very keen to have him on board. Somehow, his application found its way to appropriate test of NASA and he went on to make a successful transition from test pilot to astronaut.
On March 16 1966, Gemini 8 was launched and the raise for the moon was on. The mission went flawlessly and Armstrong performed the first successful document TV in space, but an unforeseen condition course the combining spacecraft to spin off control. Thanks to Armstrong’s coolness under pressure. The astronauts managed to undock the vehicles then used their reentry thrusters to stabilize the craft.
As a result of the normal astronaut rotation policy, Armstrong was placed in the commander of seat of Apollo 11. Armstrong and his two crewmates Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins began an intense period of training. This included the lunar landing simulator called “The flying bedstead,” which looked anything with a stable machine.
The mission was launched on July 16, 1969. Justine signed the decade declared by President Kennedy as their mission goes. In tight flight was textbook perfect.
On the lunar surface, Armstrong and Aldrin carried out their assigned task. They stayed on the surface brief 21—. The crew of Apollo 11 returned to the earth as conquered the years. Armstrong participated in the grooming schedule and made sure in the ends always with an emphasis on the NASA Space program.
In 1991 while skiing with friends in Asko, Colorado, he suffered a minor heart attack. Armstrong now lives quietly in the Lebanon, Ohio with his second wife. He’s named, “The By word for Adventure and Exploration.”
