Barbara: I am so excited to hang these doors. But first, I have to take off the old hardware and then shift it up with those doors. And as you do that, it’s really quite simple. All we need is an Allen Wrench. And here you go. It looks like this. And, it comes in all different sizes and you can buy a pack of them or just one.
Whatever size it needs, and then you just over the door, and then you find a little screw on the side of the door. And then, you just stick it in there, and then unscrew it. And then it also just pops up. And then, there is going to be a plate in here, and so it just pops on it. And then, you can do the same thing on the other side of the door. Yey!
Now, you have to unscrew this. It’s quite simple. Just two screws. And with these, you just have to put together like a little puzzle, so simple. Okay. And then, unscrew here. Usually, there are two screws. And there’s a plate and this just comes right up. Okay now, this is the outer part of it. we’re going to put it on the first door and the other door. Let’s go over there and work it out.
And then, we put this if it fits around the wall like a puzzle. And, we need those two screws that goes here. And, they’ll just catch on the other side and hold this thing together. Okay, that was fun. I got this thing working. It’s all perfect. But now, look at the other door and we have a problem. Oh goodness! All I have is a dummy handle for this one and we need to put a dead bolt on the top one but she doesn’t want a dead bolt. And, it’s a little too late since I’ve already painted the door. So, I had to come up with this illusion for this problem—well, for me to get there. Let’s go down here in the dummy and see how we can make this work.
So, you can see, what we have here is—you see, you just screw it into the door. Now, that creates a problem because they didn’t attach to each other. Let’s go over to the other door. So yes, this is frustrating because they want to put this like this. Somehow, I got to either glue this to the door to the rim or find some way to screw this tip in together. I’ll look through my stuff and see what I can find. Oh yes! Look what I found? A whole bunch of stuff. I think I have three different sizes. And, one of these is going to work for sure. So, here we go. I have the long one. What I need to know is just going to connect these two things together, like that. Let’s take this for—See! That will work. Well, not really because that screw is a little too long. Perfect. That means that this short ones are going to be just—it’s not for the door nuts and it’s not good enough either. So that means that we’re going to use the one in the middle. This is wonderful. I know that it’s going to work just perfectly.
This, hold that in place. Attach the bolt and we’ll be in business.
Yes! Okay. The handle lives on! Make that work. Now, I have difficulty of dealing with the dead bolt. She told me that she does not want to put a dead bolt on the door. Well, I guess I could. I filled it when we added the extension to the door but I didn’t do that. So, we are going to have to come up with another solution. So, let me just deal with this. Just take it around and I found these things. They’re what are called clevels. And I found them kind of cool. Just kind of move it on and it has got some kind of funky look to it. If it snaps, then it helps. So, let’s take it to the floor, smash it a little bit to see if you can flatten this thing out.
Here we go. It’s got this pokey thing and it’s long and it’s just like leave it to the ground into a floor where I have a hole on the floor and I’m going to smash it with my sledgehammer and let’s see if we can flatten it out.
Oh yes! That’s a little bit better. I like it flat. So now, I am just going to mount this to the door and our problem would be solved.
