Hi and welcome to Made Fit TV I'm your host Jennifer DiDonato and this is episode number 78.
Happy New Year everyone, happy holidays, it’s been great. In case you're joining us for the first time or if you've been the ones that have been with us from the beginning Made Fit TV is everyone source for health fitness information and entertainment and it’s well-fit bodies don’t just happen we all know that they are made I want to drill that into your brain because it’s all about you and what you can do for yourself and this is a very, very special episode, it’s the New Year and the episodes 78 is new life resolutions, not new year resolutions new, life resolutions.
It’s such, we get so side track when it comes to resolutions. People kind of get this spurt of energy and they think this positivity which awesome, it’s great but unfortunately it pisses off, it pisses off and you wonder why and you feel like a failure but I’m here to tell you that you're not a failure, it’s normal, we’re creatures of heaven. We can't go years and years and years of living a certain way and then all of a sudden just changing in one day.
It happens, it’s great but maybe only 10% of the population can do that. Majority of us just don’t do it so I try to make it easy for you, okay. So, I'm going to give you three tips on how to start your new life resolution and have it succeed and have it come because I believe in you, I know you can do it, it’s just you need an extra budge, you need that boost.
So number one, fix the cause not the symptom, a symptom is something that happens when something else causes it to happen, right. You know, so we look at you know ourselves in the mirror and you think you know I need to lose weights. I'm over stressed, I'm unhappy, I'm depressed. Okay, well instead of going and buying those diet pills or instead of starting a fitness fad, that’s not going to solve our problem, that’s just going to solve maybe the symptom and it won't even solve the symptom. It’s going to solve it temporarily. You want to fix the problem so what you want to do, you want to make a list, make a list of kinds, make a list of things in your life that just aren’t working for you. Things you’re unhappy with. You know instead of buying a new pair of pants to fit the waist size that you’re expanded too, how about make it your goal to fit back in the pants that you had, you know, unless it’s a lot of size, it’s smaller, take it step by step.
Also, you know like I said address the problem and conquer those problems one at a time. You get overwhelmed if you’re saying, “I need to lose weight. I need to lose this chunk on my butt. I need to get rid of this.” Stop it, focus on one thing. If you're over stressed, focus on how you can reduce your stress level. If you're unhappy with your food, fix it. Change what's in your house, the food that’s in your house, which leads me to number two, commitment. Act on every step. Commit to everything. If you say you want to live a healthy life, don’t keep those Doritos stashed in your house, it’s like saying you want to quit smoking or if you say you want to quit smoking and I'm committed but I want to keep my pack of cigarette just in case. You’re basically telling yourself, “I'm going to fail.” So instead, you need to just completely get rid of the things that are going to tempt you in your life. You want to make sure that you are committed 100%.
When you go to your job, you know that in every once in a while you're going to have a sick day but you're not going to take that six-day every single week because you just don’t want to go work, no you get up and you go. It’s the same thing when it comes to committing to your healthy lifestyle. So, clear up the kitchen. Alter your schedule if you need to just to fit in that 15, 30 minutes a day of exercise per day and also reduce your failure risk because if you're having that pack of cigarettes there, your risk of failure increases. So, remember that reduce the risk of failure, surround yourself with people who are positive, surround yourself with healthy things that are around you because the more it’s around you, the more it’s going to be embedded in your life so start continuing on that healthy lifestyle path.
Okay and then number three thing is educate yourself, know your own body, don’t give in to these fads. If you know that something hasn’t been working over and over again, if you know that those New Year’s resolutions have been failing ever single year, well guess what, it’s not working for you so change it, educate yourself, know how your body works. If the Atkins diet just makes you balloon back out which most likely it well after you stop it, it’s not working for you, it’s not the diet, it’s the fault. It’s the fault of you because you're choosing that diet but you know it’s not going to work for you so you need to educate yourself on how your body works. Not everything is going to work for every single individual that’s why Made Fit TV wants to cater to everyone’s different goals in lifestyles and their body types. Everyone’s body types are different. So also, turn those failures into successes. If you know that that you’re just not going to be able to do something that you’ve been doing over the past how many years or certain patterns or someone else’s is doing one sport but you're not good at it. Pick another sports, find something that makes you feel good. Now, it makes you feel bad, that’s the whole point, you want to make that new life resolution.
Choose things that are healthy for you but they also make you mentally feel good. Physically you feel good, emotionally feel good. You don’t want to set yourself up for failure, you guys you want to feel good about yourself and that what it’s all about educate yourself and just do what's best for you, test it out, trial and error, keep failing, find what’s best for you. You can do it just educate yourself on what works for you. S, I hope you guys can just take those three tips and really inspire you to start that new life resolution.
Now, what I did a couple of weeks ago for episode number 76 is we did a give away for our healthy Stocking Stuffer episode and we do the give away and I want the people to tell me how Made Fit TV was going to inspire them to pursue their New Year resolution goal. And I had a lot of people coming on the Made Fit TV website because you're suppose to comment right at the bottom of that podcast on Made Fit TV and I got so many, I mean Chris is going to test this. It was such a hard time picking because I got so many responses, so much inspiring people that came and talked about how they we're going to have Made Fit TV helped them.
So I picked two winners, one that was going to win the Teava rejuvenate mask gift set from a great friend Miriam that lives in—she has her own business Teava nice skin care line. Then the other number two gift was going to be a Made Fit TV give away, we had a towel made of water bottle and a t-shirt and the t-shirt is well. So, here are the people that I've picked so we’re going to read it for you.
Okay, this is from Phoenix Arizona I believe her name is Martha Sy. And Martha is the one that won the Teava rejuvenate skin care mask. So, thank you Martha, congratulations. But this is what Martha wrote she said, “Jenny, in the last two years I've looked into a million different weights loss programs, workout programs. I'm sure you have heard the — the reality is that someone who was sadly new to fitness and truly wants to change their lives and their ways—just ended up confusing the hell out of me. I came across Made Fit TV by accident thankfully and so far you’ve provided me the straight forward information that I was looking for in a fun way. You're pre-bench workout episode really helped me understand how and what to do. Now that I know that what I'm supposed to do, the one message that has helped me and I know will continue to help me conquer my New Years resolution is be responsible. That’s what she's talking about. The first time I heard this on your podcast, I felt like it was like my dull moment. I now have his message on a sticky note in my bathroom, in my office and my car, pretty cool. I still need frequent reminders but for the first time in a long time, I'm looking forward to New Year and setting goals that I'm really ready and able to keep. I love the show and I feel positive and motivated.” Such with though it’s about Martha said it there she's reminding herself of that so congratulation Martha, you won the face mask.
Now, for our next winner, number two Rachelle Lee, Rachelle, I believe is from Virginia and she won the t-shirt, the water bottle and the towel because this is what she says, “Made Fit and Jenny has already helped me conquer my New Years resolution. I'm so excited this year because I don’t have my typical goal of I'm going to lose 20 pounds this month and by January 5th I give up. I watch Made Fit and learning all of Jenny’s awesome tips from workout I've already lose 25 pounds this year.” Congratulations. “I learned that small changes add up to lifestyle that is very easy to maintain, it’s not I need to crash diet to lose weight but it’s try this workout ,add protein to your meal, push yourself a little harder today and Jenny makes me smile after the workouts. So funny, I almost forgot I'm sweating and shaking. I love the podcast ever since it was bride to me fit and it was even a bride but I would take my iPod to gym and do the workout with my sister. She stop going to the gym unfortunately since then but always notices what great shape I'm in. I just think to myself you should have kept with it and could be in shape to. So, while she said turn New Years resolution to lose 20 pounds I already know stick with it stays consistent, resolution conquered. I think that’s pretty inspiring because it’s all about those life resolutions just changing your lifestyle one step at a time you can do it.” It’s not about going call turkey it’s about a evaluating not necessarily what your health is in but really what you're overall mental, physical emotional health is in.
This has been so inspiring this year 2009 it’s going to be a great year 2010 and I have so much in store for you guys because you deserve it, you deserve so much and I thank you and we will see you in 2010. Remember fit bodies don’t just happen they are made and you can make it. Bye.
