Nikon's Coolpix S1000pj Review

It’s a first in a camera, Nikon’s Coolpix S1000 pj which is launching worldwide in September includes a mini projector in addition to the conventional LCD screen. That means that pictures can be shared with a group of people without everyone having to cramp around the LCD. Some of the examples offered by Nikon include running a bedtime slideshow, for kids projecting images on to a tinted camp and on to the wall at a party.

The projector has a brightness of 10 lumens which means you all need a dim room for best effect. It can produce VGA resolution images equivalent to around a 10-inch screen over. This is a 50 centimeters or a 40-inch screen over two meters. The projector which stand vertically in the center of the camera’s body was developed by Nikon and in continuous use the battery will power it for about an hour.

It doesn’t have much weight to the camera. The entire thing weighs 155 grams while Nikon’s other current compact cameras are between a 100 and 140 grams. Other features include a 12 megapixel sensor and a five times optical zoom lens with a 28 millimeter wide angle. The S1000 pj will cost 399 euros or USD429.00.
