Anthony Kane: This is Dr. Anthony Kane, with the Complete Connection Parenting Program with another parent tip for you today. Today, I am going to talk about what to do when your child is not listening to you. What I mean by that is a pattern of not listening. He always refuses what to do. There is a very simple technique, it works in children, it works in teenagers and I am going to explain it to you right now what to do.
What we recommend is this, you find something in your child -- you gather child do little things. For example, would you pass the salt please, things which people are saying, say, we never say no to, and you keep on doing couple of things like that five-ten a day, small requests that are very easy to comply with and what happens is you gradually train your child to obey you and just to respond to your requests.
For example, let's say your child Timothy, he is an eight-year-old boy always hasn't done what you ask. So you could say something like this. Hey Tim! Would you mind getting in the freezer and bringing the ice cream out? I want to give you some ice cream now? Now most children are going to respond with that right away. And what you do is you develop this pattern of listening behavior and your child will eventually get used to listening to your requests and as you go further along you can increase the size of the request. It's a very simple thing to do. You can do it right away, you can do it everyday and you will find what will happen is your child will get used to listening to you and it works for children, youngers too, and it works for teenagers and it also works for adults. Let me show you.
Honey!
Female Speaker: Yeah.
Anthony Kane: You know that dress you wanted to buy?
