Ocean-Tini Cocktail Recipe
Derrick Schommer: Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host, Derrick Schommer. Today, we’re going to create the Ocean-Tini. This is a recipe sent to us by John and what John said is this good try it so I’m going to do it.
What we’re going to do here is we’re going to douse a lemon Vodka or will I be using this citrus Vodka from SKYY infusions such as SKYY infusion that recently came in. It’s infused with natural citrus flavors. I haven’t had a straight yet. Literally, it showed up. Touch on my nose, so it’s painful.
Female: That was yours.
Derrick Shcommer: That was mine. No one else can have it. We’re going to use a Blue Curacao because it is epic and it’s kind of part of the Ocean okay, and we’re going to do some Grand Marnier or you can use whatever you might have Gran Gala, Tuaca, Triple sec.
You know what? We’re going to be getting hopefully we’re going to get it in from price imports is a Luxardo Triple sec which is supposed to be like Epic, the best Triple Sec in the world literally, so I can’t wait to see that comes in, and then there’s other things you can use Patron, Citron, it’s just good.
And so we’re going to also use a little twist of orange. It calls for an orange slice or something orange wheel. You could do an orange wheel. It’s going to be in the Martini glass I’m just chilling it out right here, and I thought you know wheels are cool but twists are cooler.
And then we can use the zest to get it on the Martini glass, so stick that over there, and we’re going to stir it. Recipe didn’t say what? But I’m going to say stir because there’s no fruits in the drink, so it’s always nice you’re going to get a better presentation if you stir it will be nice and clear. You won’t get those bubbles which you could see if you do. What was that last one we did, Ghost Buster.
It had a little bubbly action in it, so we’re going to do let’s say a Grand Marnier I’ve got that in my hands. Let’s do a half of Grand Marnier or orange liqueur. You can always check how to? What was liqueur episode if you want to know all the in and outlets to the different taste that I came up with orange liqueur.
I don’t know if I made it obvious to where that—see if I can make like slice of orange EverydayDrinkers.TV/orange or something. We’re going to do an ounce of the Curacao.Again, we’re supposed to get a nice awesome brand of that too. That’s actually naturally from Curacao islands.
We’re going to do one ounce and a half of the Skyy. It feels like I want it, the Skyy Citrus. So, this is going to look like blue. It definitely has that Blue Curacao. There are no lies in here. You know what it is. We’re going to stir it. We really want to get the ice nice and diluted.
So, some people say to stir it 30 seconds. I usually stir it until it appeal like right now it doesn’t have any feel of cold at all, and you really want to get the ice diluted just normally the scientific reasoning is 30 seconds gives you the right dilution right?
The problem is just on camera I don’t want anybody to get bored, but I also don’t want to make something that’s inaccurate and get there. Lights don’t help. There we go, that’s you do. It’s a little warm.
It’s nice and chilly, and we’ll strain that into a non-ice field Martini glass, so this is going to help really chill it up, so it’s nice and foggy now. Put them in the freezer. It makes it a whole lot easier if you do that way, there we go. Oh, perfect amount too.
Good recipe ingredient measurements and then what we’re going to do is if we can is make a little —I’ve got label on there, that’s not very professional, and it make a nice little swirl and what this is going to do is it’s shooting the zest right into the glass. Oh, that looks awesome.
Hopefully you could see it if you’re watching on an HD screen. I’ll show you that in a second. Do you have anything to swirl it with? No.
— my bar where it go? No, it’s right here. It’s not that as easily swirl on this one because it kind of get those little twist on it, but in a pinch they’ll do this job is John. Alright, we’ll twist that. It has a nice flavor. It’s so much easier to do than the limes all because I have this fresh right off the—wherever you get oranges it’s right off in there. Throw that in there kind of hang it off the edge.
So, there you go that’s your Ocean –Tini, and you can see it’s got a nice dusting of orange zest all along the edges, so you really going to get that zest in a swirl around there. She’ll going to get that nice orange natural impact.
You could definitely taste that citrus Vodka, the SKYY Vodka. It comes to really well ounce and a half to the one ounce of Blue Curacao. The Blue Curacao lends it off to nice sweetness not as bitter if you were to find a more natural Curacao, but it gives you the good color.
And the Grand Marnier, super subtle because I really think that the SKYY is kind of really the core ingredient, you’re getting the hands of orange and then you’ll get that orange after taste especially with the nice zest that we spread around it, so you’re getting a very neat. Not sour not sweet, so much right in the middle, very tasty.
So, there we go. That is your Ocean-Tini submitted by John, thank you John. I’m your host, Derrick Schommer and we’re teaching you how to drink.
