Hi, my name is Desiree and today, I want to take a minute to talk about online bookmark management. Now, there are several online services and tools that you can use to organize, synchronize and share your bookmarks with your friends but the tool I want to show you today is for the millions of Firefox users out there who are looking for a way to seamlessly sync changes to their bookmarks and passwords across multiple computers. It's called Foxmarks and it's one of those plug-ins that you will just not want to be without especially if you work from more on than computer in a daily basis. So, when we click on the link to install the program, it takes us to this page and we’re going to click on the link that says add to Firefox. That’s going to bring up this little message box here and you will just hit install now.
Were going to have to restart Firefox for our changes to show up, so we’ll just do that real quick. And that will bring us to the log-in screen, so here we’re going to click on the next button, now the first screen asks us if we have already registered with Foxmarks and I have so I took this box. If you haven’t, you’ll need to provide a valid email address so that they can set things up for you. I'm going to go to the next screen. And here, I'm going to enter the log in and password that I have previously created. And my log in was successful, so I'm going to click the next button and this window asks if you would like Foxmarks to enable a secure password synchronization now. I'm going to say yes and it will ask me for my pin which I entered successfully.
In this window, Foxmarks is letting us know that it's found data for this account already on the server. It wants to know if it should merge the data on the server with the data on this computer or if I want to keep the data on the server and discard the data on this computer or if I would like to discard the data on the server and keep the data on this computer. For now, I’d like to keep the data that’s on the server rather than the data that’s on my computer. So, I'm going to click the second button and click the next button too. And then this is going to tell me that it will erase all of the data on this computer currently, I don’t mind that so we’ll just click next and will let it its thing.
Now what it's doing here is that it’s checking with the server and bringing in all of the bookmarks that I have previously saved on other computers so that it would synchronize with this one. I'm going to say finish and I'm going to come up here and look into my bookmarks and you can see, wow, look at that, all of them I've pulled over and all 1,493 of my bookmarks are safely secured and backed up. Even if something messes on this computer, I always have it saved somewhere. Now, if I’m at a library or some place where I don’t normally have Foxmarks installed, I can always access my bookmarks just by signing in to Foxmarks online. So, that’s the word on bookmark management made simple, bye for now.
