Online Reputation Management
Brittany Paxman: Hi, I’m Brittany Paxman and I’m here with Nadia King. She’s the Manager of National Search Services here at Apogee Search. Today, Nadia is going to share some knowledge of online reputation manager with us. So this is a relatively new topic. How long has Apogee Search been consulting an online reputation management?
Nadia King: We’ve actually been doing online reputation management for a while. We’ve got clients starting back in if you wanted 2006.
Brittany Paxman: Okay so that’s essentially longer than a lot of other companies have been doing online reputation management. I was asking to lots involve of the topic. Why should companies really be concerned or even worry about their online reputations?
Nadia King: Well, there are lots of different reasons. Obviously, different client’s potential client’s recruits for your company could be looking for your company name online. So all those different people would look for you and you want to show a bit of inch for them.
Brittany Paxman: So what are the situations would prompt company or client to start caring a lot there on my reputation?
Nadia King: We’ll, we’ve really seen it for two reasons. One, obviously there’s been bad press about your company for any variety of reasons true or not true. Something else that we’ve seen and it’s really important is proactive in managing your reputation online but you really want to seem like an industry expert on what your business does and so proactively managing. That is really important.
Brittany Paxman: So what can happen to a company if they choose not to care about their online reputation?
Nadia King: Well, negative press online can take up sponsor in the search engines and if when you Google your company name there could be negative prospect comes up and obviously you can lose business, you can lose potential recruits and potential partnerships for you companies so all that is kind of the risk you take.
Brittany Paxman: So now let’s talk about some takeaways are there any tips you can give you and your viewers so that they can begin to manage their online reputations?
Nadia King: Absolutely. You know a lot of companies have the marketing department already so continuing to encourage that to permit to publish things online about the company whether it be on blogs, articles, other kinds of online publications is really important press releases. Other things such as social media unlike putting up a Facebook fan page, putting up a LinkedIn company profile. Sites like that really rank well in the search engines so it’s important to make sure you’re represented on those sites.
