Optional Portfolio Sections Part 1/2
It this web cast, were going to talk about two sections of the presentation portfolio that are the candidate’s responsibility to develop. These two sections are optional. They are called EKU College of Education Blue Ribbon Activities and talent, interest and etcetera.
We are going to look at these using the web view so, that you will begin to get an idea of what your Taskstream portfolio will look like from the web when you have reviewers looking at it. We have the homepage for presentation portfolio, initial entries that you add during 203 like the resume, the diversity reflection minoring project in philosophy.
We have the Kentucky Standards Artifacts which you will fill throughout your program. And the information that keep regarding field experiences and portfolio with a glance for your standards. The two optional pieces are EKU COE Blue Ribbon Activities and your talent and interest section.
The Blue Ribbon Activities are optional. Candidates completing this section will be recognized. It will have a special ceremony. Keep in mind that this is optional and that you will work on it throughout your career here at EKU. If you start your e-portfolio and EDF203 which everyone does, you will have at least two years before your graduation day most of you.
During that couple of year, you will work on completing activities for the optional Blue Ribbon Section. And when completed, by October 1st of your senior year, this is assuming that you are graduating in the spring, you will submit this to your advisor for review. After advisor approval, your name will be submitted to the Dean’s office and you will be added to the agenda of the spring college of education meeting to share your portfolio with college faculty and with others students.
There are different sections of the Blue Ribbon Activities. The first section is concerns meetings. Teachers attend and other educators attend the all kinds of meeting. They attend SBDM meetings at the school level. They might attend the school board meeting at the district level. Along with the SBDM meetings at the school level, we have PTA or PTO meetings and programs. At the state level, we have the Kentucky Board of Education meeting and this can be viewed on the web.
For each of these meetings, there are questions that you will ask and submit it to your presentation portfolio. For each of these meetings, there are questions that you will answer and you will also reflect on your experience. The requirements are outlined under each section.
The next section is about involvement. It's important that you involve yourself in organizations in the college of education here at EKU. When you do that, it means to a principle and a site based council considering hiring you, it means that you are willing to go above and beyond to be involved in your environment, in your school community.
So, are you encouraged to join one or more of EKU’s Education Associations and there is the link to go to the organizations that we have here on campus and this is updated regularly.
