Oreo Truffle Recipe

Audra: They’re rich chocolaty and will impress any guest and me too. But they’re
also surprisingly easy to make in today’s better buy Jordan Reid shows us
how to whip a batch of Oreo truffles that look great and they test even
better.
Jordan: I’m about to show you a little bit of kitchen magic with just three simple
ingredients. Just Oreos cream cheese and baking chocolate, you can make
these incredible decadent gorgeous Oreo truffles and they’re going to have
your friends thinking you went and took baking lessons when they weren’t
looking and you’re kids are going to have so much fun helping you make
them and if you have a bake off to enter people win even though there’s
no baking at all.
You start with three cups of crushed Oreos and I didn’t remove the white
or anything, this is the whole Oreos. I use the blender if you don’t have
one, you can use a potato masher. I probably wouldn’t because it’s
exhausting but if that’s what you have and you just are going to take the
cream cheese and put it right on in. You could use a spoon. I think using
your hands is more fun so I do that and you’re going to mush it all around
until it’s completely blended.
This is the part that you can really get kids involved and they can get their
hands literally dirty so it’s a really good project if you have you know
family then. You want to really get the cream cheese mixed throughout the
crumbs so that there’s an even consistency. And this has really helped if
you crushed the Oreos well beforehand, you don’t want any large pieces.
You want it to be all an even smooth texture. And you’re going to create
little balls and this is going to serve us the base of your truffles. You just
roll them between your hands and shape them into that.
It’s like I’m a kid again and I’m playing with mud. So next if you rolled
all your balls you’re going to melt the baking chocolate in the microwave.
You could use a double boiler, I don’t do that I just melt it in the
microwave. Okay, now we have the melted chocolate this is the part where
you have to move kind of quickly because you don’t want it to get hard on
you. You have a sheet of wax paper that you lay down. That’s where you
are going to put the finish truffles on too.
So you take the truffle between two forks, this is easier than you do with
your fingers and you just kind of roll it on around in the melted chocolate.
Just like that, pick it up and let all the excess drip off and ta-dah! There
you go and then you just repeat. I would suggest doing this part on your
own if you’re involving kids because it can get kind of messy and drippy
but definitely get kids involved in the next step which is decorating. I like
to use chopped walnuts and coconuts, those are my favorite toppings. I
think they look the prettiest.
You just take a little of that and sprinkle it right on that’s it it’s so pretty
it’s so easy. Then that’s I like to sort of place on so they stay right where
you want them to. And let’s do a yellow on and we’re done, you just put
this in your refrigerator for about an hour to chill and you can store it in a
sealed container for about a week. This is so simple it’s so fun and I dare
you to eat just one.
