Speaker: Wow, look at these cucumbers. They are ready to be harvested. I’ve got a huge whopper right here. They are growing beautifully on this nylon support. I also have a littler one over here. I am going to harvest this one also. I like tasting the fruit at different stages in its development. That way, I know when it’s the tastiest for me. So I am going to see if this one is tasty as it is. Let’s see how many more I have. Oh, here is a huge one. Oh my goodness. Oh I am so excited. I can’t wait to get started. I am going to go through here and harvest these cucumbers and then I am going to go inside and start chopping up for my cucumber salad.
Look at this. This is a cucumber. So I am going to start off by peeling my cucumber here. And look at it, doesn’t it look great. Of course, as I am peeling it, I am not going to let these peeling go to waste. I am going to give these to my chicken. I love using these little peelers. It’s really easy. You don’t even have to put a lot of pressure to it. I love making cucumber salad. I am just going to keep it really simple. Here are about three cucumbers. I am going to peel them, cut them up, add some garlic, salt and pepper to taste, oil and vinegar, mix it all up together. It’s going to be delicious. When you grow cucumbers on the wine and they’re hanging from a trolleys or some sort of vertical support, what happens is gravity will make the cucumbers grow straight down. So you can have really straight cucumbers. I am going to go through now.
And cut up some of my garlic. I love garlic. Garlic is one of my favorite things to eat. And I am not using too much, just cutting it up a little right now. Cucumber salad is a family favorite here. And it’s one of the only veggies that my husband does not have to be asked twice to taste. He loves cucumbers and my daughter does too. I thought that’s done. And we’re going to take some of my dill here and add a little more. I am just going to lightly chop this. I’ve got my cucumber here. I am going to cut it up. I’d like cutting it into bite-sized pieces but they’re going to be different sized pieces. You’re going to see it’s going to look beautiful and it can be delicious.
Now I am somebody who usually likes things cut very thinly but not my cucumbers. I like thick, fat, cheesy, crunchy, delicious cucumbers. These are ready to go in the bowl. I am going to add my garlic, salt, add some pepper, plenty of pepper and some vinegar. This, it is the fun part. I am just making sure that all of the cucumbers have coated with all of our delicious ingredients. You know what, you can also get a lemon, and just squeeze lemon juice over this. It’s going to give it just an extra citrusy flavor, it’s really good too.
Now for the real fun part, cucumber salad is good. I need one more. Actually I hope I can save these until dinner but if not, oh well, I am Patti Moreno, the garden girl.
Thanks a lot joining me.
