Layla: Are you tired of always bringing the traditional bottle of wine or box of chocolate as a gift. Hi! Welcome to watchmojo.com. I am your host Layla (ph). Today we will discover an alternative.
Simon Dauphin: The Flowerbox is a vertical concept to look at plants hanging on the wall, decorated with some boxes and frames to add some colors.
Layla: I am with owner of the Galerie Flowerbox, Mr. Simon Dauphin. So how do you water these?
Simon Dauphin: It's quite easy. The box hang on the wall on just a nail. These are cardboard boxes, we have different material, so you just take the box off, you lay it flat and with pipette or dropper you feed four or five complete pipette into the cup, and this about once a week for most green plants. For cactus you would do it every three or four weeks, and you can hang it back on the wall almost right away, under the wood and the aluminum cups hang with a magnet. You actually leave the box on the wall when you want to water, you just take out the cup, you feed it with water and you put it back. There is the glazed ceramic.
So here there are no metal cups anymore. We fill the box completely with sphagnum moss, so actually when you water, you have a lot more to water, you water only every three weeks.
Layla: Is this moss suitable for most plants?
Simon Dauphin: Yes, we re-pot the plants in our cups, we keep some of the soil on the roots, but lot of sphagnum moss to really have it tightened the cup. So it stays very stable, and the advantage of the sphagnum moss is it holds a lot of water and retains it, so when you are hanging it back on the wall nothing drops.
Layla: And I understand that you worked with the creators, who are the inventors?
Simon Dauphin: It's right. It's Philippe Tisserand and Thibault de Breyne, two landscape artists in Marseille, they came up with this concept November 2005, opened our first shop in Marseille, that happened to be the idea the Flowerbox trademark and launched their Flowerbox business. It is a great new concept, its very fun. People come and choose their own colors, plants, it's really making your own box.
