Otterbox Defender Case - Product Review
Hey guys, how are we doing today? I got another case before here. This one is going to be another Otterbox case actually and it’s a little bit addicting than the last one. This one is actually called the Defender Series.
As you guys saw in my previous case review for an Otterbox case, I did the armor case thing. It was the big beasty-brick of a case that was the water proof scratch proof, dust proof, shot proof, everything proof. That was the big brick case that I reviewed for you guys. It’s called the Armor Case Otterbox.
This is one is pretty similar just more of a compact set. This is actually called the defender casing. And as you guys see, its pretty high stability, a nice solid casing. It actually mixes everything pretty much together. There is a little patented system to that here which kind of sounds like a gimmick but actually it tends to work a lot better that I expected it to.
What we have here on the outside is silicone and then that second layer towards the inside is a plastic casing and then it has a little thing clear code membrane that protects your iPods screen. So, if you don’t have a screen protector, you got one already built into the casing there for you.
Everything is pretty easy to access so far. It’s got some pretty nice plug that I’ll show you in a little bit. But, the only thing that I have too much with is actually getting your iPod in and out of the casing. So, they did make it a little complicated but that always means that it’s nice and snug to get inside. So, I'm trying to open up this casing. I got to take everything apart. And I know, this is taking me forever because I stink at it, there we go all right.
So, now we got the two parts of the casing. This is just a silicone rubber casing, pretty nice actually. It has a really smooth to it. It’s more of a silky smooth to it though. It’s not really a grippy feel. It’s not about the downside for some users. It doesn’t have too much grip to it and then the hard part of this casing is the plastic that I was talking about graded with the another layer of clear thin membrane that will protect your iPod a little bit more. The backing of it actually shows off your apple logo. Also, it has clear plastic on the back. But anyway, let’s pop this one open.
Also, when trying to take the case apart, it’s got a little bit more of a problem to take it apart but it’s not too bad. So, you just pull it apart. Try and loosen up on the sides. Once you get one loose, and the rest of it should just kind of come with it. So there we go, there's our casing all naked torn apart and stripped down to its bear minimum. So let’s take my iPod. We will put it back in the same order that we tore it apart.
Make sure everything is nice and snug. We should be able to hear a click and there we go. And then just how we took it apart, you put the casing back inside of the rubber silicone sleeve. Get all the little holes to match up with the slots. And this kind of takes a little bit more time that I like it too. It felt like a little less convenient to apply but just as simple as that. Once you do it once or twice to get the hang of it and there we go. Good as new, perfect just the way it suppose to be.
Now the coolest thing that I've noticed so far with this casing is; it’s a really nice casing. It feels like a rubber silicone casing, which is my favorite type of case when it feels like rubber cone or probably silicone, but it gives the same protection as a plastic casing as you guys notice when there's plastic. It will show skeleton to it. So, it gives the best of both worlds really. It gives the total protection of a plastic casing, the protection of the screen cover built into it and then also gives the nice feeling of rubber silicone casing which also can also help present and prevent against shock.
But as you can see side are really nice, it doesn’t add too much thickness to your iPod either I mean yeah it does add some bulk but it’s a lightly case, so it’s not terrible. And then but as you can see the buttons are pretty easy to access. There not host or anything like that but there are ridges as you guys can see right there. There are ridges for it and the ridges are really, really nice. I love these ridges. These are surprisingly like use that I thought to access. So, especially at the home button there is a little indentation where the square is.
So, it feels perfect actually. I like this feeling almost better that what the actual iPod naked itself. So, especially with the screen covered too, if you don’t have a screen cover if you want an extra one like this case includes, the one that’s built into the casing, this is probably the best one that I've seen so far and the casing. It feels fantastic. It’s a great cover for it and I definitely recommend that. That’s one of the pros that you’re looking for in a casing. Anyway, I think that was also really cool. It’s towards the bottom. You’re slots are inaccessible until you pull back this little rubber tabs that are attached to the casing.
So now we can access our headphone jack over here and the 30 pin connector. And then just as simple as that you can just snap them back into place. And like that there just gone, no dust can get inside, no lens none of that. So you’re iPod completely enclose right now not one slot is open. The case is enclosed. The buttons are already closed. This backing as you can see gorgeous backing, cool idea of them actually they’ll let the apple logo still fly solo like that. I feel that looks pretty cool. It looks really sharp. Everything is enclosed here with light sensitivity that’s enclosed to its plastic in there. Everything is enclosed; your iPod cannot get any dust in here.
This probably one of the secured cases yet one of them most compact at the same time that I have seen so far. It’s got a great feeling to it; it’s called Otterbox Defender Case. Go check it out. It’s a pretty cheap case surprisingly for the quality that you’re getting any re-high tech case, the rubber silicone out of shell. There are three shells and there are three layers to it. The rubber silicone level protects against shock and a really nice smooth silky feel to it, it adds some great texture, adds a pretty cool style to it, pretty sleek style. The second shell under, it is going to be the hard plastic shell that you can hear under there. And then this third one is going to be the plastic clear membrane that you have at the very center if the core of the iPod casing.
Buttons are, you can’t see any of them but you can feel them definitely. There's some pretty solid radius right there, for the sleep wake button for the volume rockers down at the bottom if you trying to get under there. You got your headphone jack over here and you got your 30 pin connector.
So definitely, I recommend this case if you’re looking for a completely snug secure casing. It’s pretty lightweight surprisingly to far the protection that so you can add it to your iPod or iPhone.
So, I recommend you to go out and check this one it’s a great casing. Now this is called the Otterbox Defender. Have a good day guys. I will talk to you later.
