PNY XLR8 9800 GT 1024MB - Gaming Video Card Review
Welcome to PCWizKidsTechTalk.com. Today I'm going to talk about the PNY 9800 GT NVIDIA Card. This is part of my hardware reviews for building the performance gaming PC. Does specifically this card it’s a little bit different then the previous 9800 because this one actually have one gig of Ram compare to the other ones that half five 12. So take a little bit into the future.
Now, this card specifically runs its memory clock speed at 600 megahertz and it has a 112 screen processors. Now it is using DDR3 which is effectively clock at 1.8 gigahertz. The maximum resolution is 2560 x 1600 and of course this one does heat up, up to about 100 degrees Celsius that uses all the way up to about 105 watts maximum power so you want to make sure that you have a power supply that is minimum they say 450 but go higher. Now if you look at this chart here you'll see that the 9800 and the 8800 are very similar that’s because the architectures almost the same. It’s only the fabrication process when they made the die they make a little bit smart enough 55 millimeters I suppose to 65 but it’s very similar to the HD 4840 from ATA, so those two arrivals and it around will have a shoot out between both of those two cards.
Now this one has the same GPU as the 8800 of course since its using similar architecture. It has the same type of support and shade and model and support and of course direct extends and opens GR 2.1 support. Standard outputs right the back here of the card where you can see the two DVI and the one S video out.
Now if you look at the card here at the top you have support for SLI so you can connect multiple GPU together that’s little surprise and of course it’s using the standard PCI express 2.0 that X16 type of interface. Though looking at the other end here it’s using the PCI express six pin connectors, okay so you will need that type of connector. And here you can see at the back nothing especial it has the standards screws there for holding in the heatsink and of course you can take those out of putting on if you want it.
And looking at the card here again you can see that the front is actually on the left hand side. This top part is totally close so the air is actually blowing into the case I suppose to out of the case so its close off and the fan is on the left hand side instead of being on the right hand side a lot of cards have the fan on that on the right glow in the air out through the slots of the case. This one actually blows in its a little bit different, okay.
Now if you look at the box of course when you get a box you get the standard components on the box let see what this one has. They actually come with a few adapters, installation CD and a gain. The first adapter here is your DVI to VGA output card, okay so that one you need in case you have an older monitor and you want to plug that in no problem. You’ve got that adapter. It doesn’t have an adapter to HD in my computer. It has the cable for the power from PCI six pin to two Molex four pins, okay so we can plug those guys in if you have load the power supply and of course the S video the TV out plug to composite so if you have composite that in on your TV for example and you can have the high depth output to your TV set and watch it on that.
It also comes with the game Front Lines Fuel of War and you get the manual and of course the drivers CD. So this is it, this is the card. I do recommend the card for the price for that is that. And our next video are actually do some score in benchmarking against the ATI card and truly see how its stand in the shoot out.
So I thank the PNY for providing me the card for reviewing and I hope you enjoy this video and thank you for watching.
