Stacie Krajchir: I always say that no small business should be hiring a PR firm if they haven’t had PR themselves.
Zorianna Kit: Hi, and welcome to Dog and Pony. I’m Zorianna Kit. Most new businesses are on a tight budget but can’t grow without the right PR. Stacie Krajchir, president and founder of the Bungalow PR gives small businesses a head start. Stacie welcome.
Stacie Krajchir: Nice to meet you.
Zorianna Kit: What makes your company different from the other PR companies out there?
Stacie Krajchir: Well, what makes Bungalow PR to go but different than everybody else is that we offered two different types of services, retainer service as well as a PR to go option. And also we focus on small businesses versus larger type businesses that we’ve already been doing here.
Zorianna Kit: Tell me about PR to go.
Stacie Krajchir: I created a Bungalow PR to go because there was a lot of smaller business that you’ve can still afford a retainer fee, so this allows them to get in the game without a high risk. And how it works is just three different options, and you basically give us your wish list, and we turn around have create a database which includes editor’s numbers, emails, etcetera. And we turn around, put in a really sassy binder and cute binder, dividers that makes it really organized and easy to go through, as well as a press release and a couple pitch strips in whatnot. And we really try to simplify it and you know kind of empower the small business owner to do PR themselves.
Zorianna Kit: Why do you want to focus on the small guys because isn’t that not as lucrative as the big stuff?
Stacie Krajchir: I’m very fortunate that I don’t actually have to seek out companies. Companies seek out my company. What makes working in a small business is of little more interesting is that we really get them from the beginning. So we kind of instill really good habits, and also they haven’t had PR, and they’re really fresh and new, and they’re so open if they want to learn and they really hungry, and they’re very willing.
And so, I think working with small business is really —provides us much more of a teamwork, and we really get to move forward together. I always say that no small business should be hiring a PR firm if they haven’t had PR themselves, because I think really if you’ve done it yourself, and you’ve actually tried it, you really have a better understanding as to what it’s about, how it works, and also questions to ask when you hire a PR firm. So, I think that in terms of PR to go, it’s really empowering to small business owner, and it’s allowing them to get into the game without high risk.
Zorianna Kit: We’re going to play a game called None of your Business.
Stacie Krajchir: Okay.
Zorianna Kit: So, I’m going to ask you a series of questions and you can either answer them or tell me that it’s none of my business.
Stacie Krajchir: Okay.
Zorianna Kit: Are there any contacts that you have that you’ve will not put in your PR to go?
Stacie Krajchir: Probably about five.
Zorianna Kit: Really?
Stacie Krajchir: Uh-hum.
Zorianna Kit: And why is that?
Stacie Krajchir: I think that I’ve had such long relationships to this particular editors or producers that I feel that keeping them close to my pocket is probably the safer bet in terms of getting my retainer plans and other bigger opportunities, you save those in your back pocket.
Zorianna Kit: What’s the biggest reason you will turn away a client?
Stacie Krajchir: I turn away a client if they are not the right match or if I feel like they are going to be high maintenance.
Zorianna Kit: And how do you figure that out?
Stacie Krajchir: You know it’s just about feeling. I have to be honest with you. If it’s not a match, I know pretty much right away. I always say that the success of my company comes with having a raster of clients that marry each other and their like my little clients with philosophies, some other philosophies and business practices. And I just know—if I don’t want to be talking it all day long, it’s not a good match.
Zorianna Kit: What part of your job are you the worst at?
Stacie Krajchir: I am the worst at maintaining and tracking and organizing information. It will make a lot of calls, so you’re going to make a lot of notes, and follow it; you know that kind of stuff.
Zorianna Kit: Alright, thank you for playing none of your business. Stacie Krajchir, president and founder of the Bungalow PR. Thank you so much for joining us.
Stacie Krajchir: Thank you for having me here. It’s great.
