Hello, my name is Mary Wiseman and I am here for Mary’s Fabrication and I would like to share it with you today the LOEW CORNELL angular bristled brush. This is a white natural bristled brush and it is used for creating eyes, for creating foliage on trees, bushes. It can also be used disperse ground level stifling and also for even doing fir. Shall we get started? I will show you a few samples.
It is a good idea before beginning to wet the bristles of the brush. I like to keep a little extra water in the brush. Not maybe flooded its bristles but a little bit that will help to extend the paint. Now, I am going to go over to the paint and put the bristles of the brush into dipping it in and I am going to sew it about it third of the way. You can almost see that the paint is shown about the third of the way. I am going to step over into a clean area in my pallet and begin just lifting and placing the brush back and forth so then I am actually working that color not just into the bristles but also into and across the brush. This will help us to create different values as we stipple. I have penciled in a little tree trunk in here, we are going to start add some foliage to this tree. I am going to take the brush and I am just going to start to stipple onto the edges of my branch. If you noticed how the brush is just placed and I am leaning more of the pressure towards the corner of the brush where originally dipped it into the paint.
Not going to crisscross back and forth, I turn the brush, so that I would get my foliage going in many different directions not just one. Now, let us say that as we are doing this we also wanted to plant some ground level down in here at the bottom of our tree. You could always add a shrub or maybe we just want some green foliage growing at the base. So we can chop it there too. Now, I am going to go over and wipe the brush off and maybe corner in to some of my lighter color. This time, I will brush with a little dryer because I blotted it out but it is still dirty with the dark color. I will step over again on the pallet, this is very important to always still stipple to color off on the pallet, do not go directly to the piece.
I might knock to, above or below some of this darker areas leaning again with the toe of the brush so that I am hitting it. If I want to soften it a little bit, I might rock back onto the heel of my brush. If you noticed how I am -- straight up and down. I am not just taking the brush and pressing down once or twice I am tapping lightly, creating different values, maybe I want real life foliage into the sky or a backyard so I would have lighter touch. More color, heavier touch. Same thing down on the ground level, I might come in and stipple in, back and forth creating that foliage. Sometimes it is fine if we have had more colors on our palate we could stick colors into our tree and create a spring time blossom.
