Shalom! This video is about Parashat Mishpatim, which is Exodus 21 chapter 24:18. It follows right on the heels of Parashat Ethro, which is the giving of the Ten Commandments.
So, what would you have after the Ten Commandments, well you have lots and lots of laws. According to Jewish tradition, the word Mishpatim is actually based from a Hebrew word of [foreign language], which means judgments.
In Jewish tradition, generally distinguish commandments that are Mishpatim it could be rationally understood on those Mishpatim and those medieval that are hukim that maybe not have a rational basis.
Of course, as I explained on my video on Sajah he tried to call of different names, but he also said there were some medieval those were rational in their basis but just ceremonies and rituals.
But of course, I have the effort to understand them all. Anyway, what on this portion many medieval it begins by talking about the fobbing institution of slavery? And slaves were not mistreated like they were to other servants and there are all kinds of rules regulating how decently I have to treat them.

Among them are murder and kidnapping, many talks about normal things that are growing. First, I just saw on the paper last week about goring axes and actually reminded me of the laws of the Talmud here and the Torah about goring axes. But, this idea the goring axes the basis in several of the Talmud about third law and negligence and gives us the basis of the American English and how you deal with the things that when somebody heard it causes property damage for someone else.
And then there are rules and penalties for theft and lending. And there are certain laws pertaining to Israel remaining the holy people. Among those are reminders not to curse God and to dedicate God’s first born sons to be the first fruits of the tree. The other laws pertaining the holiness that entered to the laws like not eating flesh torn by a wild beast which is [foreign language] and a torn strafe now means anything is not originally with this stuff that was torn by wild beast. I am going to talk about the [foreign language] and how the land has the life fellow this year 5768 is a year in Israel and they still observe it. There are all kinds of rules about what you can and cannot grow to let the land rest also. In the commandment to rest on the seventh day follows. Again, reminding us about the sequence of seven are you supposing to rest.
Then, there is another reference to the three festivals and that how males are supposed to present themselves before God at these times. We regal all the time about the highs, people trying to do this Jewish probably from Jesus being at the top during one of the holidays.
Actually, scallops of ancient Israel say that the population of Jerusalem is just slow significantly during this period indicating that people would actually come. We also have the famous eye for an eye statement, which has been totally misunderstood by anti-Semites.

That is repeated 36 times in the Torah. Now, their culture has its version that early of treating everybody equally and not apposing the stranger. And then the portion concludes by Moses repeating all the rules to the people and lays them down.
The mountain is covered with the presence of God for six days, on the seventh day God tells Moses to ascend the mountain. Moses goes up and remains there for 40 days and 40 nights.
And if you think about the broad ranger you will cover nearly every aspect of human life. Even Ezra one of the great medieval commentaries knows the focus of prime adjust treatment of the most members in the society.

So there we have it, this very important portion. That not the Ten Commandments granted but there are very important commandments as many of them. This just shows that there are not just Ten Commandments in the world but there are actually many commandments in the Torah that we have to consider the foundations of Judaism and Parashat Mishpatim with its judgments and words that are certainly worth reading and understanding.
