This is Jason Sheftell from the New York Daily News on Park Avenue, the boulevard of dreams come true.
All over the world, Park Avenue is thought of as New York’s top address. Why? These spectacular buildings made of limes and brick built mostly by Rosari Candela in the 1920s, had great marble entryways and huge foyers with giant terraces overlooking Park Avenue. Who lives here now? Bankers and lawyers. Who lived here then? Rockefeller’s, Carnegie’s, the best top families in American history.
The prices? $4500.00 will get you a one-bedroom on the smaller side, two-bedrooms in a $10,000.00 range. You can also rent a $50,000.00 five-bedroom apartment easily. On the buy side, $2.5 million will get you a two-bedroom, two baths and a very large terrace. You might get a nice one-bedroom for $1.1 or $1.2 and of course, you can get a penthouse for $35 million at the top range. It doesn’t go higher than this.
These tulips behind me were planted by the Fund for Park Avenue. For the past 29 years, it had been dressing up these mediums. Why is this neighborhood so great? It’s close to the park. It’s got great cultural institutions. It’s a better location in New York City up and down these streets, and the buildings and apartments are as good as you can get.
