Patricia Field Dishes on Sex and the City 2 and the $10 Million Wardrobe
Allison: FabTV chats with Sex and the City 2 custom designer Patricia Field. She predicts the big fashion trends from the movie, how they layered it on in the desert heat and if their wardrobe really costs $10 million.
Patricia Field: I think the main thing about this film was it was motivated by this whole vacation idea. You know it was a travelogue. It was a ramp through a fantasy vacation. The challenge was to make a gorgeous wardrobe and at the same time show respect to the host culture. For example, I did lot of layers like the people dress there. But instead of in this black veils and things like that it were chiffons and cover ups of diaphanous sheer fabrics and great hats.
I use the Halston because I was tired of all of these shapes that are not relating to the body and it was making me yearn for something chic and simple and feeling more American and European. I don’t really feel people are going to be walking around and like you know desert clothes per se, just simplify. Put on a chic little simple jersey dress, pair of heels and you're good to go, American classic.
The truth is I’m not really sure what we spend but I know we didn’t spend that kind of money. We bought some, we borrowed some, designers loaned us their samples, whenever we needed we got.
Allison: I’m Allison, thanks for watching FabTV Spotlights. See you next time.
