Male: And it is Armed Forces Day. We’re going to show you how to make some patriotic drinks, so you can celebrate in style today. I have a gut feeling there might be red, white, and blue. This is Fox and Friends.
Female: Also, we’re gearing up for Memorial Day why not celebrate with an All American Cocktail. No, not beer. This is a fun selection of red, white, and blue drinks where we’re going to be making them, and I fear sampling them.
In honor of Armed Forces Day and World Cocktail Week, we’re combining them, we’re concocting some patriotic drinks for your Memorial Day Celebration. Here to teach us how to make the red, white, and blue cocktail, this is the CEO of Behind the Burner, Rick is with me here, let’s go.
Rick: I am, yes. Divya Gugnani, the CEO and founder of Behind the Burner. Big celebrations getting ready for this coming week. Everybody is going to start to be partying. We got to think about cocktails. We’ve got some themes her, blue, white and red; red, white and blue. Let’s start with the blue.
Divya: Yes we’re going backwards today. So, this is what I call a Blueberry Sensation, and what I did here is I just muddled some blueberries, nice anti-oxidants in your cocktail.
Rick: So, that’s healthy.
Divya: Yes, and put in some sake which is wonderful because it’s got 69 calories for about an ounce and a half as opposed to 115 like you get from another spirit. And you just shake it up with some ice, and put some ginger ale, and you’ve got a Blueberry Sensation.
Rick: Okay. Let’s move on here. This is the white.
Divya: Yes, and this is Karlsson’s Gold, just on the rock’s, a little bit of white pepper. White pepper gives it that kick and that spice.
Rick: Now, I have had Karlsson’s Gold, it’s great vodka. Why are you using this one? Could you use Absolute or something?
Divya: You could use a different one. I really like the flavor of Karlsson’s, and you know it’s distilled ones, and was made from new potatoes, and it’s just got really nice fine flavor on it’s own.
Rick: Okay, so this is just Karlsson’s and pepper.
Divya: Correct.
Rick: All right. This one we’re going to make, tell me what this is. This looks healthy also.
Divya: Yes.
Rick: There’s more fruit in it.
Divya: You get to do your honors, right?
Rick: Okay.
Divya: You get to do this. So here’s Dubonnet, and this is what I call a Red Racer. And I just take about an ounce and a half of Dubonnet, and I pour it in a glass, this is a wine based aperitif. And an aperitif is something you usually have for meals that kind of gets you ready.
Rick: Okay.
Divya: And then what I do is, I put in perseco, and you could use Cava a sparkling wine from California and my tip here, because I’m from behindtheburner.com, and we always do tips, tricks, techniques. My tip is that for sparkling cocktail you really want to use sparkling wine or Cava or perseco because it’s less expensive than using like a champagne from France which you really want to enjoy alone.
Rick: That’s a nice point. Anyone of these drinks, you can make in bulk and put it in big buckets some place for the party.
Divya: You could. And you got to get those strawberries in there because it’s nice to have the vitamin C when you’re partying. That’s my other tip, behindtheburner.com tip.
Rick: I love all these. Guys, it’s low calorie, there’s a lot of anti-oxidants, and vitamins in your fruit, and it’s Memorial Day and a little bit of booze.
Divya: It is, cheers!
Rick: Cheers! Thank you very much. Back to you inside.
Male: Bring them inside Rick, bring them in.
Rick: No.
Male: Rick needs alcohol, and it’s his birthday.(That’s true.) He’s staying outside.
Thanks Rick.
