Pawpaw Smoothie Recipe
Pawpaw might sound like a very exotic thing to you. Well, they’re actually the largest group native to North America, really popular with the Native Americans. They’re primarily found in the wild and they’re not only found at grocery stores because they have a very short shelf life. These are Pawpaw right here and they’re actually a very large berry and they taste kind of like bananas with a little bit of mango and the texture is kind of a custardy texture.
Pawpaws are delicious when eaten fresh and September is when Pawpaw is abundant out there. So you’re going to take them and you’re going to eat them fresh and you’re going to add they to a fruit salad but they’re also great in breads and here in my household banana bread is really popular so you can substitute Pawpaw for bananas.
You know Pawpaw is really nutrient rich and they’re high in vitamin C so I’m going to make a really healthy smoothie here. Decorate flesh in there; you can really see the seeds now. The seeds are huge and you want to make sure that you get every single one out; you don’t want to eat them. Now, we are going to use about three Pawpaw in this recipe. You’re going to see them as green, yellow and brown and when they’re brown is one thing our super ripe.
It really does remind me a lot of a mango but it’s not kind of a – I got string here of fibers. Alright we got our three Pappas in there, they’re looking good and Pawpaw are so easy to grow. I got mine from Starck Brothers and they’re called Hardy up to zone four. You’re going to find them in areas like New England or the Midwest all the way down to Florida. But you have to get the right tree for your climate.
They can tolerate shade, partial shade, partial sun and full sun. Of course when they’re in full sun, they’re going to grow to be super tall up to 40 feet tall. Now if you can’t use up all the Pawpaw that you have just in the month of September what you can do is you can take out all the flesh inside and you can freeze it and it’s going to store for quite a while about six months in your freezer.
I’ve got my popper pelt in here. It smells amazing. We’ve got about a cup of ice and a cup of coconut milk; we got a tablespoon of honey, a little dash of vanilla and a little dash of cinnamon. In this smoothie you know feel free to add any of the things that you like. You can add yogurt into it, got some strawberries here so if I want to add some strawberries I can. Now, we’re going to blend it up. It is beautiful and perfect – a healthy, delicious smoothie made with Pawpaw.
