Welcome to the Sunday night shooter edition of Common Man Cocktail and I’m your host Derrick Schommer, your probably wondering why I’m dressed up like Santa Clause. It’s because it was just recently Christmas and you can only wear this for a week. I mean after that it gets old. It’s like Christmas tree, they eventually they die. So since I can only wear for a week, I bought it, I’m wearing an extra long time just too really celebrate and because I can. It’s still Christmas until the New Year she says and I believe it because I don’t have to do any real work until January 4th. So you get that.
All right, so were going to do now is were going to make a Peppermint Patty Cocktail were going to do that with Crème de Cacao, we’re dark because I recently bought it, you can use light, it just might not look as neat because when I think Pepper and Patty I think of dark like a chocolate like a Pepper and Patty. Peppermint Schnapps both of these are bought arrow brand. Peppermint and Patty and cream, Peppermint and Patty are that when—from Charlie Brown.
And were going to stir this cocktail because we can, because that was it says, so we got our stirring device, put some ice in there. There we go! Throw in a one and a half ounce of each but we’re going to do an ounce of cream. So we’re going to do the half ounce of peppermint schnapps, this is probably, so this is it for the holiday cocktails? Do we have another series of winter once? I guess, why I’m asking you? I’ll figure it out.
I don’t know, we’ll see, we’ll play that would be lame, yeah, we’ll play it by year and we’ll let you know by making a show and if it’s kind of in there.
All right, were going to do our ounce of cream, this is a light cream because that was I have—you can use heavy cream I’m sure. You can use milk but cream. Half-and-half, that’s actually one of the things that had said as you can use half-and-half. So if you use half-and-half in your coffee, your already halfway to where you going to be. Oh yeah there was—I didn’t even think of that, I’m not kind quick. Don’t do too much credit. I’m a making a mess! That’s okay, it’s my show.
So as it seems to be, obviously dark, cream of coconut mix, no difference, cream of coconut don’t do that. Dark Cream of Cocoa, Crème de Cacao doesn’t have very much bearing on the color of this drink its white. It’s going to be white, where’s my strainer. Yes, it does have to do with the measurements. You use more cream than cocoa. Genius? Smart. Weak or smart, for those who’ve realize I’m from the Boston area.
So, it looks innocent and it looks like milk, which does your body good. Smells like—I don’t really—oh yeah, there’s some peppermint in there. But not a lot that’s always good because you don’t need a lot. Let’s do it, see what happens.
Oh yeah, that’s a stuff right there. This is where I went wrong. Peppermint patties, they’re dark but when you bite them, they’re white. That’s what this taste like, this taste like the white, the incise, the guts of a Peppermint Patty that is why it’s white, genius. If you were to take chocolate, somehow make it manufactured to be a patty. Put this inside of it, put in the freezer, bit you taste just like it would if you would if you didn’t do anything at all. Don’t know where I was going with that.
So that you go, that is Peppermint Patty. The big key factor here is it’s not too much peppermint. That was going to scare me. Some people were like way too much, this will lasts you for years, unless you really like peppermint and with drinks like this where you bounce it out perfect, the extra cream really gives you that cream sensation with the peppermint and just enough chocolate to make it think there was a chocolate wrapping around it, that’s what you want. That’s a good Sunday night shooter, that’s your Peppermint Patty.
