Pat Geselius: Hello! Welcome to Juniper Home. My name is Pat Geselius and I'm the Store Manager. Today, we're going to be talking about aerating and decanting wine. We are going to demonstrate three different methods. We're going to talk about the traditional decanting and aerating with a decanter. We're going to talk about aerating your wine quickly, easily with the Vinturi Wine Aerator, and then thirdly, we're going to talk about Eisch Glass, this wonderful new way of aerating wine.
Let's talk about the old-fashioned way of decanting and aerating your wine. You can use a beautiful decanter such as this, or a carafe that you have in the house. Open the bottle of wine. Usually, you only decant red wines. One of the purposes of decanting is to keep the sediment that is in better wines from falling into the decanter. This allows the sediment to collect here.
Don't rush when decanting, rather use a smooth, steady pour. Leave just a little bit in the bottom of the bottle for the sediment to collect in the bottom of the bottle rather than in your decanter. Then pick it up and swirl it a few times. This adds aeration to the wine. Let it rest. It can take as long as one-to-two hours to fully decant and aerate a bottle of wine. But if you've done it all correctly, the end result should be a full carafe or decanter of clear wonderful wine.
Whether you're an occasional wine drinker or a wine connoisseur, you will be able to tell the difference between an aerated and non-aerated glass of wine. Aerating wine releases the natural flavors, aromas, and vastly improves the wine tasting experience.
Here we are demonstrating the Vinturi aerator. Use this simple and quick method. All you have to do is pour your wine through the aerator into your glass, and your glass of wine is properly aerated, no waiting, not testing, no swirling. Aerators such as the Vinturi are dishwasher safe, so they can be used over and over again.
Now we're going to talk about the Eisch Breathable Glass. Eisch Breathable Glass is a wine glass that aerates wine for better enjoyment. A wine poured into Eisch glass will show signs of aeration equivalent to the same wine that has been decanted and aerated for one to two hours.
How does it do it? The manufacturer applies a patented oxygenation process to the glass. The aeration takes place within the wine itself just in minutes. In addition to wine, breathable glasses can also lead to improvements with spirits, fruit juices, and mineral water.
I'm Pat Geselius, the Store Manager here at Jennifer Home. Thank you again for joining us for another product demonstration.
