Female: If people want to volunteer to help, how can they get more information?
Lesa: Well, they can contact their local shelter, like for instance, us here at the Animal Welfare
League and ask how they can, who they can speak with and what they can do to learn more as far
as training goes. Because it’s gonna be necessary that volunteers don’t just walk in off the street,
they need to, preferably, have some animal, hands on animal experience. But other people who
don’t have hands on experience can also help in an emergency situation with paper work,
admitting, and registration of animals. And something that’s not so hands on as direct care
taking, but we’re going to need lots of volunteers as anyone would in a disaster. It needs to be
very organize and somewhat selective, because we wanna do it for the safety of the volunteers
and do it right for the safety of the animals. And preferably, preferably volunteers who have their
rabies shot, a lot of people don’t have that, and we understand but certainly those people might
be have a better chance of getting into help us out.
