Female: Ultracet is the brand name for Tramadol a pain reliever combined with acetaminophen which was approved by the FDA in 2001.
Female: Tramadol is a prescription analgesic that can be combined with acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol to relieve acute pain.
The compound is available only under the brand name Ultracet. Like narcotic medications, Tramadol enters the central nervous system and binds to opioid receptors located in the brain and spinal cord.
This relieves discomfort by blocking out the body’s natural response to pain. Although, acetaminophen is technically a fever reducer it is commonly used to treat pain. When acetaminophen and Tramadol are combined, the compound treats pain more effectively than either medication does individually.
This drug is only recommended for short term use like for pain after surgery. Ultracet is available in tablets which contain 37.5 mg of Tramadol and 325 mg of acetaminophen. Take Ultracet with water. Because the compound can be habit forming, always follow the dosage instructions of your doctor.
The most common side effects of Tramadol include constipation, drowsiness, and excessive sweating. But ask your doctor for a complete list. Also be sure to tell your physician immediately if you experience hives, or sores on the inside of your mouth, nose, eyes, or throat or any other significant changes.
Tramadol can increase the risk of seizure and patients who have epilepsy and should not be combined with alcohol or medications that impair breathing. Ask your doctor for a full list of medications and conditions that should not be combined with Tramadol.
Ultracet can be effective for treating severe pain and the short term. However, the drug should always be used under the direct care of a physician. Please ask for and review all of the information provided by your doctor before taking Tramadol with acetaminophen.
