Also I wanted to cover changing the color of items in a portrait for example this dress but first I am seeing a telltale sign of string here. So what I am going to do is fix that by clicking a new layer. And just name this clone string under arm so, I know what it is. And I am going to zoom in by pressing my Spacebar and Control key and then dragging right around the target area that I want to go to and it will be Spacebar Command on the Macintosh and this is a job for the clone tool.
So I am going to click on the clone tool, choose Sample All Layers so that it will clone on this brand new layer. And basically what I am going to do first off, is just Option click on this good line area and then release and move it right up here and click, so that it covers up where that crossed over. Then I am going to resource by clicking here Option click or Alt click and then click on this area. Option click here and click here, and here, and here Option click and then click over here. And we had gotten rid off that little string that was there.
Now I am going to change the color of this. And I can make a selection of this area or I can go in and use the Select command here and say Select Color Range. And I can actually go in here if it is one of these colors up here and I can choose select reds and it is going to give me a selection of that red area. And when I click OK, you can see that it is made the selection around the red areas. Of course, you did not get everything that we needed but we are going to use this as the basis for mask anyway. So we can later brush that in.
So I am go under to change the color of this. I am going to go under hue and saturation and I can play the hue here to change the color of the shirt. Now notice that it is changing other colors in the image but we are going to fix that in just a second here. I want to get it to be kind of blue color and up to saturation a little bit here and take the lightness red about there and click OK. And then I am going to click on the mask, Alt click here and I can see the area that I need to remove or paint out.
So I am going to just switch to black and put that up to 100% opacity. I am actually going to get a hardedge brush for this. Let us start off with and just get it real big. Just eliminate this totally, like so. Okay. Now when I get close to these areas that are selected white, I am going to change the blending mode here, change it to overlay. And then hit my white, leave it on overlay mode to just brush in this area that was selected. Release the mouse and brush over it again so that becomes totally white, click release, when you are on the overlay blending mode and brushing here, it is not going to affect the black areas when you are painting white. Then we will see how that works.
And now, we will Alt click on it and see what we have got. And there is a little bit of edging up here that we need to fix and when were out here we are going to switch this back to normal to normal mode. We want to reveal that blue in this area. There is a little bit red fringe here so, I just need to kind of hone in on this area and adjust that selection.
And then I am going to click and Shift click to follow along this line here. So it is snapping to it, a lot easier than freehand drawing. Okay, see. Zoom our—all right, now, once I have got the mask done. I can come in here and play with this hue and saturation and refine my color choice here and down a little bit on the saturation that makes it more realistic. Try to kind of blend with the color of her eyes and click OK.
