A lot of people ask me what kind of picks I use, and it's really important to address this because I play a lot of rock and roll, and I play a lot of country, and I play a lot of bluegrass and so I get asked to play a lot of different styles of music, and how to pick that you can use for all of those musics, all those stuffs I am using; it's really important. And I use pick called Red Bear. This looks like a tortoise shell pick but it's not. It's actually a pick made out of milk protein. It's made by a guy named Dave Skowron. Red Bear picks, and the reasons I am telling you about this is that I have been playing for a long time, and it's the best pick I have had in probably 30 years, no kid along with till date, so it's called Red Bear. This is a 1.24 mm. It's heavy, C class heavy.
So if you get online you want to order one, you can find it online. C class heavy but the main thing about the heavy pick is it gives you chance to have more power when you need it and when you are not using it, you hold it really loose and you stay for in relax. The main thing about this shape is basically the triangular shape because I have got spheric turns on my pick. I have got three edges on this side, and three edges on that side, so I have one side of my pick goes a little bit rough or it gets a little crazy on the edge, frets makes it tougher for me to be smooth, I can switch to another angle very quickly, fast. Another thing about this pick is it basically gives me the same high end click that real turtle shell gives and then in the studio that makes all the engineers really happy.
That's pick tips from Brad Davis.
