Hi, this is Doctor Debra from topworkoutsecrets.com. And I'm back with another green smoothie. Today’s is kind of an experimental smoothie. I've got little—of things that I haven’t put together before. So, we give it a try and see how it goes.
First, I have part of a fresh pineapple. The rest went into my husband’s ice cream last night. So, I have 1/3 of a pineapple or half of maybe a smaller pineapple. And I just had one orange left. Toss that in. And here we go and about ½ cup of water with that. Okay, maybe ¾ of a cup of water of that—
I got to have some blueberries over here that I'm thinking about adding in and I need the lid. So we will give this a try. Blend the orange and the pineapple first. Okay next, actually I have a whole lime. The most difficult part is cutting off the peel. And so I'm just cut that in half. Blend it in. I'm thinking it's going to be full of vitamin C, that’s for sure. I'm just going to put that in first.
Okay, now at this point I might be tempted to put in a banana for sweetness and because with me I always have at least some frozen in my freezer. I usually have at least one frozen, usually more and actually my fresh bananas aren’t quite ripe yet. So I wouldn’t be temped. But usually there is bananas around these. The problem is when you add bananas into citrus. It actually changes the starch in the banana and makes it hard to digest.
So I'm going to stay away from bananas in this. You put three leave of kale, green kale, curly kale. All right, I will give that a taste. See what I got so far or I put more greens or the berries in and see how overpowering the lime might be. That’s pretty good. I think if I had a second orange I would definitely put that in. I'm actually going to put in some spinach first.
Kale is nice because it's full of nutrients and it's not as bitter as chard. I still use chard but it's nice to have the kale as well. It definitely gives it a rich green color. So we will put some spinach in just to see if I can take a little bit of the lime in. For me I should have stopped with the half of cup of water. It's a little bit thin for me. You might like this.
Okay, so now I'm not sure what to think of it. Let’s see what else we can pull out of the refrigerator/freezer. I think I'm actually going to use—this is the good thing about green smoothies. It's extremely flexible. I'm going to put a few frozen cherries in. So we have that acid just a little without hopefully turning this into a mucky brown color.
Okay, I've mutted the green but I don’t think we got the gray going yet. I think that’s all right. It's all right. It kind of cut the acid taste without—I don’t really taste the cherries so much. It just cuts the acid. Yeah, more cherries in, we’re going to get kind of that gray color that sometimes when people how things look affects what they think about them taste-wise. It doesn’t really affect the taste but it's nice to have a good presentation. So, there you have it. I have to come up with the name of that one. That might be the pineapple blast because the lime or the pineapple zing because that lime definitely gives you some zestiness, maybe even pineapple zest.
