Hi, I am Thom Filicia from Dress My Nest, and I am here to dispel some design myths. Furniture must go up against the wall. For those people out there that are always putting their furniture up against the wall, like they having a girls scout meeting, that's a bad idea. You really want to have your furniture layout actually create conversation groups. You want your furniture layout to help people navigate through the space and figure out how to use the space.
You know people follow, they are following through magazines. They follow through catalogs, they follow celebrities do, and it's really not about following, it's about putting your stamp on it. There is a lot of great information out there, and there is a lot of great resources out there, and you can learn from those. But the key to it is, and the key to having great style, is putting your stamp on it.
So putting furniture lined up against the wall is better if you're may be have a meeting in a gymnasium, but at home, not so good.
