We got a situation here in front of this garage where water is paddled and now building up and allowing to run up against the garage doors and eventually in underneath. Well, to correct the drainage I have decided to go with paving stones. I got a helping hand here I got Dan my neighbor here and he has got two machines. One of which is the spoon hammer and also we have a carbide saw. We want a nice crisp edge in order to cut that straight line. That way, we can come up and bat to a quite nicely with the paving stones.
Now, that we have got all the asphalt taken away there was about to inches over the top of the fairly good substantial substrate here, almost like a pit run graveled, Good drainage is what we want in the end result of our paving stone application. But also, that pit run gravel is allowed tree roots to grow. And, as you can see here, this size alone that has come across the asphalt because of the problem in the first place and then in underneath the concrete now, would you believe that the root of the tree would crack concrete? Well, there you have it right there so we cut those all away and we have maintained our width equal to five paving stones in this particular case. We have some leveling, some raking to do and then we will be ready to lay the balance of our paving stones.

We have shown a few different patterns of the way of laying the stones. We actually got them alternating horizontally. We got them more alternating in a vertical pattern as well as we got them in straight rows showing you those different patterns that you can put into any paddy or in this particular case what we have done is for drainage. And I am just going to show you exactly what the drainage here is done by watering down the driveway and allowing the water to run off pulling into the crib us between the asphalt and the paving stones. And, finding its way down into the permitted drains and out into the storm sewers and eliminating more water from going on into the garage.
